Do you think with the inclusion who was revealed in this episode canonizes the series he originally appeared into the MCU?

Jordan Malloy

I wish, but I doubt it. He was headed to jail last time, and too high profile. Kate would likely know who that is. If this is the same Universe, Matt would be losing his mind right now.

John

I just wanted to say McDonald’s chicken sandwich is pretty good 🤷‍♂️

Callum

No because that would make iron fist cannon 😂

Cam K

I sure hope not, I am an MCU completionist and I do not want to have to watch Iron fist.

Joel

No but I want it to. It might be similar in the way that Phil Coulson was in the main MCU, but was also in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Anonymous

I think they will say it is the same character but in the mcu universe so some slight changes to back story and such.

Chris Skalicky

I think it's just a different version of that character. Not a multiverse thing but just that he was so good as that character it only made sense to bring him back.

Anonymous

I hope the series ends up being canon because it would make it way too complicated to retcon everything when you have great material to work off of.

Sam K

I don't know if it will, but it deserves to be canon.

Jack Kelly

No. They'll keep it vague and never outright say if the old shows are Canon or not

KRW

No, that is too R rated for Disney. The character will be altered slightly moving forward because a lot of people who are going to watch the character in the MCU will not have seen Daredevil.

SonOfDarkHelmet

I'm saying yes because, damn it, I want a certain drunk private detective back too.

Wheelmagic

I said yes but it’s more of a “kinda”. Because it’s probably gonna be a soft Canon, ie just pulling the characters not necessarily the things those characters have been through in the past

Christian Bolda

I’m saying yes because 1) I want it to be canon and 2) I feel it wouldn’t be to challenging considering nothing majorly game changing to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe ever happens and it could very easily fit in without stepping on toes

Anonymous

I think they could be considered canon until officially contradicted by another show, like what is happening with Agents of Shield and Agent Carter.

Anonymous

I hope we get to see him smash Clint’s head in with a car door. Just kidding. I hope it’s Jacque .

Dr. Bobcat

No, I feel like if it was canon then Kate would have recognized him. He was a pretty public figure. Not definitive proof but still

Joel S

I will have to assume...kind of. Some of those Netflix shows went real dark for Disney. I am interested to see what they do with the character going forward.

Anonymous

Yes I’d like to think so. The daredevil show was already supposed to be semi cannon when it aired, so it wouldn’t be that hard to say they were… from a certain point of view.

YaboyQ

No, well yes and no they are going to pick and choose who they are going to bring over and elude to which parts of the shows they are going to keep, think of it as a different universe in the multiverse where most of the events line up almost exactly but with minor changes THANK YOU KAAANG!!!!🙌🏽🙌🏽 or lady loki rather for unleashing the multiverse🙌🏽🤣🤣

Anonymous

Technically in a multiverse, everything is canon

Kiana Barbieri

I am really on the fence about this one. I would love if it’s canon but the shows did get dark so I can see Disney just revamping the characters.

Deadpool

Hawkeye takes place after Spiderman and Doctor strange 2: Multiverse of Madness. I think the end of multiverse will be like the end of crisis on infinite earths. Where there will only be one earth and nobody remembers it besides doctor strange.

Anonymous

I believe that It doesn't canonized 100%. I think it will be a situation where they will say that their history in the MCU is similar to netflix but not exactly the same, giving Marvel the ability to pick and choose what actually is canon in the MCU, like maybe Jessica Jones is but not iron Fist, only the future will tell (best known as Kevin Feige)

Kevin Bartelen

I think it will be assumed as cannon in the MCU, but nobody will talk about it directly anyway.

Jow

No way that Marvel will want you to have to go to the competing streaming service to understand the MCU stuff.

TheJungleMan

No, unless, they set the series in let's say Phase 1. Now he is just trying to climb up the ladder again, after the blip.

Sarah Case

I voted yes but I’m 50/50 on it, bro

Flashback007

I would love it, but if that series would be canon others would be as well and I am not sure that's all what we want

Cal

I want it to be canon but everyone here is making a good point that it’s too R-rated, but is it too against Disney to just allude to it ? Kingpin: My Driver annoyed me last night. Henchmen: :sigh: I’ll hose off the car door again.

Tim

Even if it doesn't, with this, and the recent Charlie Cox news that K. Feige dropped recently, I think it sets a good precedent for other Marvel TV show characters, not just Netflix, but SHIELD and maybe Inhumans too.

Lucas
>>73800550

And yet they're making an R rated Deadpool film. Disney don't care about violence as much as people seem to think they do.

Lucas

The Defendersverse has always been canon, now they're just being fully integrated into the main MCU projects.

Anonymous

Out of all the Marvel Netflix shows, Daredevil and Jessica Jones were the ones I liked the most, so I am very interested in how those characters would interact and fit in with the current MCU

Liam Duggan

I think it'll be a very soft reboot. They'll keep the bits they liked and just never reference anything they'd rather wasn't canon, but I do believe it's going to be the same Kingpin from Daredevil and not a variant, or an actual reboot.

MarkIsDaBoss

I really, really hope so, but I think not. It'd be awesome, if that was the case, but I don't think we'll get blessed with that possibility in this universe. Fingers crossed, though.

Anonymous

I think the events of the primary Daredevil TV show will be canon, but the Defenders will not be canon. This will help keep things simple so that they don't have to recanonize characters they don't want to use, so they can not utilize Iron Fist or others. And then if they wanted to bring Luke Cage or Jessica Jones at a later point, then just canonize that individual show at that time.

Anonymous

Feige’s last word on this was that they’re canon, so yes

Sabotower

I think it's canonized now, but I doubt much of it will be addressed. [SPOILERS FOR DAREDEVIL SEASON 3 AHEAD] For example, wasn't Fisk meant to stay in prison under the threat of Matt proving Vanessa's involvement in Nadeem's murder? How is he out, unless Vanessa is dead? I'm not sure if that would be touched on here or if it would be saved for a series that features Daredevil more prominently (e.g. She-Hulk maybe)

Logan_w726

I really hope it does I loved Netflix daredevil it will be a CRIME if it isn’t

Matthew Cronin

It would be a mistake not to include that masterpiece

Jeanette C

I think they will canonize Daredevil but maybe they'll leave out all the other Netflix series (unfortunately)

Chaos T

A re-watch of the reaction to "Daredevil" is in my future.

Cultured Degenerate

Not on its own, but coupled with the supposed OTHER cameo in No Way Home, there become 1 too many coincidences to ignore

Carlos

Rick needs to learn of Kingpin's greatness, make this man react to Daredevil!

Bgill

I really hope so because I need to hear him say the name Vanessa in that voice again.

Dip602

I really hope so and i hope they canonnize the rest pf the shows as well including AOS

Darth Kal-El (Cory Weston)

I think it could be. But I can also see Kevin Feige wanting to do his own thing with the character and not being tied to something that he wasn’t directly involved with. Feige also said in an interview before this episode that IF Daredevil shows up in the MCU he will be played by Charlie Cox. Also Feige has creative input on Spider-Man but Sony has complete creative control over the character(s). Marvel and Feige only have creative control on MCU characters like Iron Man and Strange, Happy Hogan, etc.

Darth Kal-El (Cory Weston)
>>73800284

But what also has happened in between now and then. The snap. If Kingpin wasn’t snapped out of existence he could have easily escaped jail during the blip. It would have been pandemonium in the jail when the prisoners and prison staffed vanished and when they started reappearing making it very easily for Kingpin to escape.

Darth Kal-El (Cory Weston)
>>73800553

I mean even if it isn’t the same character Kevin Feige last week in an interview said that if we see Daredevil again he will be played by Charlie Cox. I could see him taking the same stance with Jessica and such. But playing a different incarnations.

Darth Kal-El (Cory Weston)
>>73805820

That’s not what Feige said. All Feige said was that if we were to see the character of Daredevil again it would be Charlie Cox. Not that it would be the same Daredevil from the show or that the show was canon.

Brandon Brenlla

I don’t think it’s canon to the prime MCU timeline, but because the multiverse is happening that means everything is canon which means HOWARD THE DUCK IS CANON BABY

spencer

yes if vincent D’Onofrio isplaying kingpin

Jam

It's easier to restart and give these characters a new beginning and explanation, then telling the audience who doesn't know them to go watch this show on Netflix that we've never acknowledged till now.

GoodAsGo1d

I think they know how much it means to Marvel fans and how much we want it.

Chase Gardner

If they do make daredevil canon make daredevil season 4!!

FaultyHammock

I think if they do, it would be very easy to do to work the Netflix series into the MCU, it could be done with as little as a sentence, or even just visual storytelling. All you'd have to do is introduce him with the bloodied "Rabbit in a Snowstorm" painting in the background, and it does the job.

sonicburst3

I think they already said it's not canon. So I think it's a new version of Kingpin.

Anonymous

I'm fine with them not canonizing the show but just give me Vincent and Charlie in the MCU please!!!!!!!

Glynn Rockwell

I just really really want it to be. I want to see Charlie continue as Dare Devil and I want the return of Bullseye.

TinyGeist

I imagine it will be relatively canon. Like it is essentially canon unless they have new plot points that directly contradict what happened before.

World's Greatest Detective

I love the show Daredevil but I would kinda like it if Matt was just starting as Daredevil and his journey is more ingrained in the MCU and the connections and opportunities that world would bring. Such as teaming up with other MCU heroes to face Kingpin.

Director Scarlett

No, because then I would have to acknowledge Ironfist. They're probably just Variants who exist in this timeliness.

Anonymous

It depends. In the multiverse all shows are canon, but in the main MCU I presume Netflix shows could be "broad strokes canon" if Feige & co. don't want to retread the origin stories (somewhat like Ang Lee's Hulk vs. The Incredible Hulk).

Anonymous

I say no, because I don't see Disney advertising a competing streaming service.

Anonymous

I voted no, but I certainly believe elements beyond just the actors themselves are canonized. I see them doing a soft reboot, where character relationships remain the same they were left at in their respective shows, past events will be alluded to, but I don’t see them just flat out fully canonizing something they didn’t work on themselves. More than happy to be wrong however.

Adam A

I don't see them referencing the shows that much. They may pull a couple things from Daredevil, but I seriously doubt it'll all be totally canon. Kinda like how Star Wars takes stuff from Legends.

Aaron singh hayer

I mean daredevils in Spider-Man so it’s defo cannon

Liam C

I think it’ll be more of a soft reboot, if we ever see Charlie’s Daredevil and Fisk together on screen they will reference a history and maybe what Daredevil warned Fisk about at the end of DD S3 but no flashbacks or proper confirmation. Just references similarly to how DD referenced the MCU in S1 by referencing New York and “The big green guy”

Anonymous

Kinda but I think not. They are gonna take Stuff from the Series that will work in the way of how they reintroduce him (However that will look like). But it will ultimately be a new Story.

Coeus

I'm gonna say no, but they will treat it like the big D has for Star Wars Legends - they'll start picking out the pieces they like and integrate them into the MCU as we know it.

Tucker Lobner

I'm gonna say yes for now, but we'll have to see how it plays out in the finale because he could play an alternate version of the character or they could do a soft reboot of the character

Sara-Jayne

I’d say no. Treat it like Star Wars legends where it all could be but it’s not until it’s confirmed or contradicted. Then they can pick and choose the best parts of the defenders. Really I don’t care, I’m just commenting to start the #makeRickreacttoDaredevilcampaign.

Talulabelle

i'm saying no. not because i don't think it could be canon, but just because i don't think the same actor reprising the role inherently makes it canon

Billyb

Yes, I think if Kevin wasn't interested in the baggage that comes with the character, I think they would have just recast

Crystal Squirrel

I think they're going to cherry pick what works best for the MCU.

Darren Withers

I say yes, the Netflix series stayed true to the MCU, so there’s no reason not to. Sure, he could be written in an alternate version of Fisk (like the alternate J. Jonah Jamison at the end of FFH) with the multiverse featuring so prominently lately, but it’s surely easier just to fold them all in as is. Regardless, knowing Fisk’s character and that he is involved changes everything, and may explain something I’ve heard very few ask, how did Barton become Ronin? He was obviously devastated after the blip, but as for the transition itself? We’ve already seen Kingpin turn a broken man into a weapon for his own purpose before, it makes sense he’d do it again. I’d suggest that at sometime after this, but before Endgame, Clint managed to get leverage on Kingpin in the form of the watch (no idea what the actual significance is) which gave him the opportunity break free of Fisk, but I’d bet before this, his targets were all on Kingpins S#!T list.

celeste marie

Honestly I’d be super bummed if it’s just a reboot with the same actor. Putting all these mcu Easter eggs in the shows or even having characters from the movies show up and then just saying ‘oh yeah the shows aren’t canon’ is really crappy in my opinion. If they didn’t want to make them canon then what was the point of making the shows in the first place.

Charlie Pears

I think they'll canonize the more grounded street level stuff from Daredevil and Punisher, the Dragon bones under New York that caused a huge sinkhole and swallowed a skyscraper however maybe not as much

Starkiller100

Much like Star Wars Legends I would approve of them taking certain elements and cherry picking them. While at the same time not entirely de-canonising the events of the shows.

Danny King

Unlike some certain companies, Marvel has been pretty good about listening to its fans. Either they don't touch the characters for another five-ten years or they bring back the Defenders

TheCreepyGuy

I feel like it will be a similar thing we had with quicksilver and J. Jonah Jameson, and just the same actor but not the same character.

Anonymous

Considering how self contained the defender shows have been I can imagine that they'd be able to canonise the majority of it without too many tweaks to the stories.

Billy

I would love for the shows to be canon, but I think the best we're going to get is the MCU not overwriting the shows. I doubt anything from the shows will ever be confirmed to have happened

Dip602

It all depends on weather he says "When i was a boy" in the finale
