Do you Holden should or shouldn't have disarmed the missile?

Eli HS

i have never been more upset with holden. i’m not a book reader so i have no idea where this goes but this feels as bad as when robb broke his vow to walden frey

Dante

He couldn't have made a worse decision. However, it's totally in character for him he's been doing shit like this the whole show.

Joel

I blame Filip if he wouldn't take so long to switch sides, Holden would've had no motive to disarm the missle.

FaultyHammock

While it might not be a tactically smart move, it's 100% in-line with Holden's character, he's too decent for his own good sometimes (he's the Jon Snow kind of character archetype, but actually interesting to watch lol). Plus he doesn't want to kill Naomi's son, that kind of thing's just a little tough to deal with. In any case, even if they didn't "get" Marco, they definitely got in his head this ep.

SonOfDarkHelmet

It might have been the correct choice to save Niomi from grieving, but it's going to come back and bite them in the ass. I would have let it go off to save future conflict.

Yil

Why make Marcos a martyr? Killing him in that battle would immortalize him the same way Hector was in his duel with Achilles. Besides, we have seen in these episodes how Marcos is sabotaging himself with his pride.

Strategically the wrong move but morally right. The last thing he needs is Naomi to see him as the bad guy.

LKG

He went against his own orders of keeping the crew informed of decisions, but I think it was moral decision but not necessarily the right one since they are in war.

Kennia

it was the right choice, he shouldn't be the one that kills Naomi' son

Anonymous

Totally the wrong thing filip has had his chances and he’s been too late to change his mind and now everyone who dies is on holdens head

Tony Camas

I think the correct answer to this is "C" - He did the *Holden* thing. I'm actually a little surprised at the number of people who are angry at "the show" (the writers, I guess) for this decision, like they did this to stir up fake drama or something. Shake Hands with James Holden, folks. This is who he has always been. I also think you could make the strategic argument that Holden's decision might have been the better decision for the long term. There's actually a lot of parallel here between this decision of Holden's and Drummer's decision to not space Marco when she had the chance, or even Klaes Ashford's decision to not shoot Marco in the head when he had the chance. Killing Inaros in any of those ways could have actually strengthened his hand politically by making him a martyr. At the very least, it could have created a civil war among the Belters. Marco has done despicable things for sure, but his summary execution at this point would not bring back any of the dead or undo any of the suffering now going on on Earth. Instead, it would likely extend the conflict and lead to many more years of war and death across all of humanity. It's a tough call, certainly, and there are many arguments in favor of executing Marco as well, but I would argue that this is at least a defensible position, whether you agree with it or not.

AndyV85

He wouldn't have been James Holden if he didn't do what he did.

Coeus

He said it plainly before that - killing Marco would just make him a martyr, right at a time when his support was wavering it would solidify people around his memory & be used as a rallying cry: "You see what they do to people who try to stand up for themselves?"

spencer

he did the wrong thing like drummer and ashford when it came to marco him sparing marco will have major consequences. He did the right thing in naomi’s eyes

Chaos T

I can see both sides but him becoming a martyr might be more dangerous than letting him lick his wounds especially now that Earth has the tactical advantage. I feel being beat in the field of battle will make Marcos do more rash, risky things and Holden becomes his white whale. When Marcos starts to lose support because of that then it will be safe to kill him. I kind of hope their conflict becomes a Khan vs. Captain Kirk scenario.

But Drummer and Klaus could’ve prevented the deaths of millions of ppl had they killed Marco when they had their chance. Here Holden had a clean shot on someone who has killed countless others and pussed out cuz of Filip or something. May be different from book Holden but sorry I call BS.

Dip602

This is so hard because i want marco dead but i don't want him to die ao easily i want him to suffer a bit more

Thontor

probably the wrong decision, but completely understandable. Killing Filip would have destroyed Naomi and Holden couldn't bring himself to hurt someone he loves like that

CogRevolt

Marco wouldn’t be perceived as a martyr because he attacked with a superior force and lost fair and square. After abandoning the people on Ceres without enough food and water, then blowing some of them up, he would have been seen as the selfish, arrogant poser he was.

Matthew Cronin

I completely understand why he didn’t do it, but now it’s inevitable that something terrible is going to happen.

Jordan Malloy

I get that his significant other’s son is onboard that ship, but her son is a terrorist/murderer among other terrorists/murderers who will likely kill thousands (possibly millions) more people. In short, he was incredibly wrong.

DerMathze

I get that the angle wasn't the best, but we've seen multiple times that torpedos can take out a drive without blowing up a ship. I feel like they could have controlled the torpedo enough to aim for the back of the ship.

Amy Payne

Kill the kid, I'm beyond caring... Though it did look like he was going to challenge his dad for leadership which was interesting, he didn't seem scared of his dad anymore.

So Marco killing millions of people can’t be classified as “bad” because it’s simply “He did a Marco thing”. It’s no excuse. And no it’s not the writers fault and I don’t see a ton of drama. Just differing opinions. Holden can continue to do Holden things, doesn’t mean we have to agree or like it

Rebecca Murphy

While I initially was upset about what Holden did, he was probably correct that killing Marco would only have made him a martyr. And since Marco had to run with his proverbial tail between his legs, the loss of respect from his crew may lead to serious problems.

Peaches was a terrorist too at one point. Now she's part of the crew. He made the right choice.
