I'm guessing multiverse There had to be a reason for the Oliver episode to bring the multiverse in

Fede Krauch

Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey

Alexis M.M

This isn’t related to the episode, but if there was one thing in any season of any show you that you can change what would it be?

Luis Garcia

I don't really have any idea, but they could always blame Crisis

Bryce Young

I think the negative speed force created an alternate timeline where he doesn’t die, so he can be the new avatar for the negative speed force. I think he will become cobalt blue who is Barry’s twin brother in the comics, because the crystal in the episode is the same as the one we saw in season 8, in Avery’s lab when Bart and Nora travelled back to 2013.

Kaden Harris

Oliver made new earths so I think he’s on a new earth and with wally reaching out to other earths with his powers that might also bring other forces to those worlds? Not sure, but excited that I don’t know

TLKXXV

Maybe when Eddie died and got sucked in the wormhole at the end of season 1, he didn’t die but was moved to another earth with new memories.

Tom From That One Thing

Maybe its like far in the future? I have no idea. There are so many Timelines, Multiverses, MirrorVerses, and Realities. I just want my boy Ralph Back, he would make sense of this.

Dylan Allardice

I think he apart of a different universe

theunquest

So let me preface this by saying I have seen no promos or trailers and know nothing of what’s to come but from my knowledge of DC comics I think he could be ‘Malcolm Thawne’ who is Barry’s Twin in the comics. I think this because on the badge it says his first name is ‘Malcolm’ AND he is Cobalt Blue in some stories. Now the big counter to this theory is that he didn’t seem to recognise the name Thawne (which is kinda a big hole) but still… just the first thing that came to mind.

Melted Asiago

I think the Negative Speed force chose "Malcolm Gilmore", an Eddie from a different earth, to be the next avatar and he will be Cobalt Blue and may even change his name to Max Mercury after the lab he works at.

Mario Carranza

He better not be just some random twin that were separated very young. there's only so much cliche's I can take from the CW shows

Narutoanime16

Maybe when his body went through the portal someone erased his memeory healed him and put him in this time

James Bond

I mean in this case it’s more a comic thing than CW 😭😭 but I get what you mean

SteelSpider

There is always one easy and reliable culprit. CRISIS!!

Matthew Blackwell

We've seen this lab back at the end of season 8, same with the crystal too. So either this Eddie "Malcom" created the crystal, or the Negative Speedforce create everything? Like my theory is it's creating the perfect avatar. Using Eddie, Joe's house, the lightning. The perfect negative half to Barry.

Gorgonfish

Somehow Eddie returned.

Jimmy Balch

I bet he’s in super witness protection! They either wiped his mind or he has to pretend he’s a different guy in case someone’s watching… like us

Flashback007

Is this another Earth? Oliver did hint at it

Chris

They say that statistically every person has roughly 6 lookalikes just kinda out there in the world. Maybe this is just a random dude named Malcolm and this is all a big coincidence

Dhurt

Something something multiverse something something

Brandon Hanks

Unless he is from a different Earth, it be Crisis-related. So we saw that after Crisis some of the characters like Quentin Lance and Tommy Merlyn being brought back to life and Emiko Queen, who was also brought back to life, seemly have a different life. The other we saw that a lot of characters not remembering the Crisis event and things that happen before it until J'onn J'onzz open/unlocked their memory. So what if the Negative-Speed Force is using the file as a way to unlock "Eddie" memory of his other life. But unlike the others, this is something that he will have to figured out.

Featey

It would be cool if he was from an alternate timeline where he didn't die or something like that, maybe that's why he was in Joe's house because he is living with Iris.

James Maccioli

It starts when a man loves a woman…..or could have started over a few too many drinks

Jaz

I have no idea. I have spoken.

Wbcoyote

I don't know the flash is confusing, Eobard always comes back why not his great-great grandfather but I like that he is back

Meryl Smith

My idea is that it's probably some type of alternate reality type of situation or maybe even a time displaced thing like what happened to Eobard or... it's something else.

Liv

I think he’s from another earth as a fresh remix on the Cobalt Blue, which is why he doesn’t know the name Eddie Thawne and was in what we know as the “West house”, because in his world it’s not the West house. I’m not sure why what I’m assuming was the negative speed force or someone manipulating it sent that file from our world to try to provoke something, but I don’t think he’s our Eddie that didn’t die or lost memories or anything like that because that would completely undo the results of S1 Thawne being “wiped” and opening the singularity. He has to be fully dead for that to happen. Maybe they want him to take on that purpose and identity for himself even though that wasn’t him.

Marcos Avalos

Fan service. That's the reason eddie is back.

Logan Wright

One of my theories is he could be an alternate Crisis version of Eddie, I know the name Malcolm Gilmore from the comics but I don’t think they’ll follow his comic storyline for Cobalt Blue!

MarkIsDaBoss

Honestly, no clue. But there is a thought, so hear me out. So everyone's saying that he'll be Cobalt Blue, especially since there were the added blue effects in his scenes. Now sure that's cool and all, and it'd be awesome to see that character in this show, but you know who else is cool, and awesome, and contains a trace element of.. blue? That's right. BEEBO! I have spoken.
