I hope it was sorta clear that the string does have properties in which each involved has an altered state of mind at times. kind of like hormones being whacky when on your period, or buzzed after drinking. Still conscious and aware of actions. It's an evolutional thing to calm partners during the development of a connection. Happened slightly in Tied in red if you look for it. It's not meant to be even close to as strong as *ahem* ABO effects, but it can be compared to that.

I need to reread Doug and Ted's story to see what you are talking about with them but I do appreciate that from what I've seen with these two that the effect the string has went into effect once they started trying. Like here, yes he feels a little "buzzed" but it's only when both are in a kind of harmony and feel safe.
