Work Experience Program: Expressions of Interest (Patreon)
Content
We are now accepting expressions of interest from developers who would like to be involved in the IGC work experience program (as a client/employer).
I am currently in the process of partnering IGC with some campuses in the East Kent College network to provide work experience briefs over the next few months.
The students at EKC are in FE (Further Education) which means they have finished compulsory education at 16 and are now studying technical or vocational qualifications. The qualifications they are currently taking are generally the level required for later university entry, but tend to have a practical/craft focus, and are designed to be appropriate for direct-to-workplace transitions. The students are required as part of their studies to complete a set amount of hours of work experience, and IGC has been asked to come up with briefs for them. We have proposed a "job board" system, whereby game developers who are part of the IGC Supporters' Community can submit their game and request help with specific areas, such as creating in-game assets (art and sound) helping with marketing (Steam capsules, animated gifs for social media etc.) or helping with the core design through testing, QA, or deeper analysis of the game.
Developers who sign up do so on the understanding that not all of the work produced will necessarily be of useable quality, but most of it will help them improve their games in some way. More details are on the actual form itself - the link is below the paywall line of this post.
This document is for you to sign-up as a developer. It doesn't require you to submit any files or folders yet. It lays out your developer responsibilities, and also helps us to collect contact details to enable the rest of the initiative and ensure that we follow the safeguarding requirements of EKC:
