On Friday 8th I went along to the Crab Museum in Margate.

Not to learn about crabs (although that did happen) but to attend the launch party for new evolution-themed action roguelike Everything is Crab.

The Crab Museum is a great institution and it was really cool to see them putting on an indie-games-related event in my town. The event was streamed live, and you can watch that here to see more of the game, as well as learning more about evolution, carcinization and "false crabs", and why Pokémon is bad.

Yesterday I caught up with Chris at Secret Mode games, the game's UK-based publisher (who also put out Still Wakes the Deep and A Little to the Left; what an eclectic bunch!). In the video you'll see Chris discuss the Everything is Crab / Crab Museum marketing collaboration, and how to do similar things yourself if you're going it alone without a publisher.

The YouTube version will go live for the general public in the next couple of days, but here's the free early access one for Patreon sickos. If you'd like to become a full Patreon sicko you can visit our memberships page to get videos like this early, as well as unlocking the ability to bother me online, and extra content from the YouTube channel and podcasts I make.

I've been a bit addicted to this game, it's got a really satisfying loop and art style. Looking forward to giving this interview a watch!

Indie Game Clinic

I haven’t bought it yet but my son has. I think that says a lot about the efficacy of the event… our kids were the only under 16s there and they both wanted the game. They generally only get into indie games if they’ve seen it streamed a lot (Cult of the Lamb etc) and most of the time they are too locked into big GaaS games like Fortnite and Helldivers for lots of smaller games.
