The 'Silent Library' type scenes are from their show Rookie Kings. There is other great content in these shows but this game section is hilarious. Definitely worth watching! Also hope you give the official N.O mv a watch. 😊💜

Once you start listening to Agust D and RM as well, you will see how they responded to their haters! I also watched a clip where the guy that was criticizing Suga and RM never succeeded and got into trouble with the law… not sure if that was true though!

About that guy, it is true, he went to jail for a while. He did try to make more music but he is far from being succesful.

When you asked "what was that", it was a penalty for a game in a show, and JHope had to "kiss" V. They made it look like a joke, but I don't think it was something they thought it was ok, but unfortunately they were just starting and many TV shows used to make idols do these weird games and penalties at the time. So it is what it is.

I think you would really like theire Song "House of cards". That one should fit your vibe. Please also make sure to make enough Breaks and do not overwork yourself. ARMY's will always gladly wait, whenever you need a break. You're nice, keep going 💪🏼💜

The messaging they had during the School Trilogy era was less rebellious and more revolutionary. It goes much deeper than teen angst or rebellion. They are speaking truth to power and also speaking candidly and brutally about flaws in the culture that they think need reforming. It's not something any idol groups were or are doing but it's very hip hop. It's another reason they were attacked, both for being upstarts from a tiny broke agency with messaging critical of their elders, social "betters" and society, and also as being misfits in KPop. Their messaging is really political and was received that way at the time. This meant a lot of attacks from those in power as well as striking a chord with those suffering. BTS has always been fearless in speaking their truth and addressing issues, not chasing ratings or market approval. You have to look at their work through a Korean lens to understand how groundbreaking and risky it was and is. As the video stated, S Korea has the highest suicide rate in the world in the 10-19 age range because the pressures on kids are so high and there is such a stigma against even talking about mental health issues, let alone treating them. Most psychiatric drugs are even illegal there. More recently, there have been a rash of teacher suicides in S Korea, because the pressure on kids translates into pressure on teachers. It's a cultural issue that needs reforming and they brought a lot of light to it with their early work, encouraging hopeless kids to see a future worth living and to chase their own dreams in life, showing them that they are seen, talking about mental health issues in a normalizing way, and telling them to grab some happiness now instead of finding a more permanent solution to escape their current suffering. They saved a lot of lives. I really encourage explanation videos when reactors do song reactions, not only because a lot of context and wordplay is lost in translation, but also because you don't know what you don't know about the culture and how each song fits into it or into it's place in time/history. I'm glad you have been doing those.

Another factoid to know is that Mr Bang has a Master's degree in Human Behavior and he provided therapists on staff to the boys as well as giving them very good support and guidance himself. This is another REALLY UNIQUE factor for BTS and Big Hit which helped them get through all the hate, all the attacks, all the pressures of the industry, and to come out so amazingly well balanced and healthy. Also, the fact that they were always speaking their own truths in their music and throwing their hearts out there really helped them work through a lot of things in real time.

Notice that Rise of Bangtan uses a visual device where they say one thing in the narration about how the idol industry is, writ large, and then they show BTS being the opposite. For instance, in this episode they talk about idols being always happy, always perfect, always flawless, never showing any dark or down sides, and then you see BTS sharing their fears, their pain, their flaws and their tears candidly with ARMY. In previous episodes they talked about training and dieting and phone restriction and so forth in the trainee system for idols, while on screen you see BTS eating at a restaurant they say they go to every day and cleaning their plates. You see them eating treats like sweet melons. You see them have unrestricted access to the internet and talk about how their vlogs and Bangtan bombs they just filmed and uploaded themselves, with no editing or supervision. If they dieted it was because they decided to themselves, like before a photo or video shoot. The boys themselves pushed themselves harder than any trainer or label person. They were BUILT DIFFERENT from the beginning.

FYI - the guy calling them girls in that interview is an underground rapper called BFree. He ended up in jail for assault and drugs charges. He was from Hawaii and in one of the cyphers you will hear Suga tell him to go back to Hawaii. That's the one and only time they call out anyone specific in their diss tracks. Generally Suga says he lays traps in his songs and if you get offended, if you step in the trap, then it was for you. In other words, if you are owning the bad behavior he is talking about and you feel attacked, then you deserve to be.

The kissing penalty is from the show "Rookie King". A lot of people like the show, but i can't watch it. A lot of the penalties give me major second hand embarrassment. I have only watched a few episodes myself and have seen clips of some of the other penalties and that was all i watched. I don't know maybe you will like it. I can't remember what the other show is called though. It was filmed in their practice room and they play games like Run BTS. I have liked watching you really get to know the guys through these reactions. Can't wait to start In The Soop season 2 now. I am super behind on Patreon videos.
