In 2016, through his first solo album, he revealed for the first time that he had been battling depression, OCD, and social anxiety since his teenage years. He didn't openly talk about it, there were lyrics that implied he had suicidal thoughts or had even attempted suicide Yoongi usually never shows his vulnerable side, but through his music, he becomes infinitely honest and allows himself to be weak. So when he honestly conveyed his painful heart in his songs and put forth his dark thoughts honestly, it’s painful and heartbreaking but at the same time, I was always grateful for such courage After the release of his D-2 album, when fans who listened to 'Dear My Friend' asked him out of concern, he reassured them that he was not hurting at all. However, during the concert, he broke down in tears while singing this song. My heart shattered when his friend said in Suchwita that there was a time(2017) when Yoongi was struggling so much emotionally that his friend worried about leaving him alone.. Knowing that he has been struggling for a long time and sometimes still struggles badly, honestly, my heart drops every time I hear such stories belatedly He’s a very strong person and he really, but he is just as fragile, which makes me want to support him as a fellow human being

Suga talked about his mental health and struggles ALOT in his music. In his first album/mixtape there is a song called The Last where he goes deep into his depression and social anxiety and more if u wanna check it out. Yoongi really has gone through a lot of traumatic shit especially with his shoulder injury that’s shown in Amygdala. It took 8 years for him to get a surgery. he was getting painkiller shots and performing with that injury for so long it’s heartbreaking fr

As someone who has been watching Suga for the past 8 years, it's clear to see how much he has changed compared to his earlier days. Even just comparing Suga in "Bon Voyage 1" and "Suchwita", you can feel a significant difference in his aura and facial expressions. He didn't laugh as much as he does now and looked listless We often jokingly refer to his past as his 'stray cat days'. Much like a stray cat surviving the harsh streets, he held onto intense anger, resentment, and pain, constructing strong emotional walls to keep others in bay. He left home at a young age and made a living by selling music on the streets Knowing his past would be helpful in understanding him and his evolution better, so I've detailed it below.

💜💜

First of all, Suga grew up in a very poor family, so he worked part-time jobs late into the night after school to make money. As a result, he was always sleeping or lying down at school, and went back to work once school was over. His parents didn't support his dream to pursue music, often tearing up or discarding the lyrics he wrote. Consequently, he left home at a young age and barely managed to scrape by with the money he earned from selling his music on the streets. However, he was often scammed by unscrupulous adults, which left him without enough money to afford a proper meal. He either ate $1 ramen or went completely hungry. He had to face the harsh realities of life alone from a young age, deprived of proper care during his formative years (‘Wasn’t loved enough as a kid, that’s why I'm the cautious type’ explains his childhood) He has been suffering from depression, social phobia, and OCD since his teenage years. Even after debuting, he was tormented by negative thoughts. During one concert, he experienced a panic attack triggered by his social phobia, resulting in his hospitalization and the cancellation of the concert. Even after that incident, he was plagued by guilt over the concert's cancellation, causing him to wake up in the middle of the night in cold sweats, unable to sleep. And listening to his songs from his first album, l think he did had tried to give up on life His struggles were not only mental, he also endured intense physical pain for a long time. Before BTS began to gain popularity, when the company was on the brink of bankruptcy, he was worried about the potential disbandment of the group. Due to his financial difficulties, he secretly took a part-time job at night, but got into a car accident and dislocated his shoulder. Fearing that he would be kicked out if the company found out, he hid his injury even from the other members, enduring the pain of dislocated shoulder alone for years while maintaining a demanding schedule filled with intense choreography. When the company found out, they didn’t berate him or kick him out. Instead, they offered to support his college tuition and helped him with his difficult situation. However, as he couldn't cease his activities with BTS, he continued to dance with his injured shoulder, relying solely on painkillers to manage the pain until his shoulder worsened to the point where he couldn't even lift a bottle with his arm, and his shoulder ligament was torn. Eventually, a doctor told him that he might not be able to use his arm anymore if he did not undergo surgery. Eight years after the accident, he underwent surgery in 2020 and received the treatment he had needed for his neglected shoulder for eight years. He used to enjoy b-boying in his prime, but after injuring his shoulder, he can no longer do it. And because of the permanent injury to his shoulder, he is now serving his military service as a public service worker. I believe his maturity and wisdom stem from the numerous challenges he had to confront alone from a young age, and the strength he had to cultivate to endure those times His music, which served as a channel for him to express his repressed emotions and share his stories, must have played a key role in his transformation

Link below D-Day concert seoul the final Day 3 https://www.patreon.com/posts/87462333 Link below; documentary D-Day https://www.patreon.com/posts/81890304?utm_campaign=postshare_fan This man has the most difficult past, 1:Daechwita, 2:Haegeum and 3:Amygdala are a trilogy, he said to listen to it in yhe right order. You need to watch his documentary, Yoongi is truly a genius. He went through a lot! The last day of his concert he cried so hard but it's to much to explain in coments..when his parents came for the first time to a bts concert, it's meant that they finally accepted that he is an idol, he saw them and felt on his knees on stage as a thanks torwards his parents for accepting him and he was crying so hard. As AgustD he could be a bit aggressive in his song, something he couldn't do as Suga of BTS, and than you have Min Yoongi as a person who was poor, no support from his parents when he started to rap..so you can see it as a personality issue, in his trainee days he did delivery work and thats when he and a car crashed, he had a shoulder injury that needed to be operated but as trainee with a debut in front if him he waited till 2020 thats when he got the operation. You can see in many performances that he was in so much pain on his shoulder, it broke Army's heart. D-Day is like an ending of his past strugglings, a new beginning without shoulder pain, no money worries anymore, good relationship with his parents..he knows who he is and what his worth is and is loved by so many people around the world. He find his inner peace. I love him so much and even though jk is my bias this album is my nr one from all the solo's, the emotion, the acceptance, it's all so sad but on the other side such a relieve to know that he's happy and flighted so hard. He made me believe again in 'mental freedom' that if you work hard enough you can be free from dark thoughts. He is an inspiration for many humans!

Suga did have moments when he talked about having a hard time, also others have expressed how they worried about him many years ago when he went through a dark time (yesterday a very close friend was invited in Suchwita and briefly talked about that time). There is an album of his you haven't listen to , and there is a song called The Last, where he talks about his mental health struggles, I think you should at least listen to that song to understand that layer of Yoongi.

You asked what is love to us- for me, when I love someone I want the best for that person, like if the best for someone would be to not have me in their life, than I would do that. However, being in a 10+ years relationship I can say that love has different phases and it has more layers than what you feel in the beginning, when you are falling in love. Hard to explain in a comment, but human relationships are never easy (not all the time at least), so the closer you get to someone the more you feel you will lose if the relationship ends, and how you react to this fear when problems come is something that will define that relationship and also your relationship with yourself.

This album is straight up transcendental, it’s so powerful and is also so emotionally impactful! Yoongi’s lyrics never fail to deliver on the emotions and tackle topics that most idols don’t talk about! Amygdala, SDL, and Snooze all make me want to cry so bad (I did the first few times I heard them). This album was such a vulnerable thing for him to share with us and the world, and it’s definitely one of my favorite solo albums from the members (alongside Layover and Indigo) 😭😭🔥

I remember vibing to the beat of amygdala and then the car came and I swear my heart stopped. I think his song is super spot on to portraying frustration and how it’s hard to move on from moments that creates a whole new trajectory for your life. Something happened to me of a similar nature to his accident which coincidentally brought me to BTS. He captures the feelings he wants to elicit perfectly!

Everything in Amygdala is true and more besides, like his life-threatening burst appendix when they were on tour overseas, and other struggles. He wrote Just One Day while in the hospital recovering from the appendix surgery. The scar he gives himself in Amygdala you can see in all three songs of the trilogy, Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala, and it represents his traumas. He feels that the traumas are self-inflicted wounds because he said he was young and not healthy in his mind and didn't deal well with all the hard and bad things that happened in his life. The trilogy is about his mental health journey. In each he plays dual roles, a good and a more troubled, earlier version of himself. In Daechwita he is battling his rage, paranoia and isolation in the Mad King, who is blonde like Suga in his early years with BYS. Peasant Agust D in Daechwita is no longer alone but has his 6 brothers behind him (BTS.) He shoots the Mad King with a Colt Army model gun, representing the strength he found in ARMY. There is a lot more to the song and MV, but that's part of it. In Haegeum he is battling his greed and self-indulgence in the corrupt detective, still with his 6 brothers behind him. In both he leads a coup and turns the enemy's supporters into his own. In Amygdala we get an origin story of his traumas and his troubled self, trapped in his own mind. Each newer version of him has a more healed scar over time. In Amygdala it is fresh, in the Mad King it is a little healed and in the Peasant Agust D it is still more healed. The corrupt detective has an even more healed scar and the street Agust D from Haegeum has no scar at all. His anxiety was so bad that in 2015 they had to cancel two concerts in Japan, one already full of ARMYs, when he had a massive panic attack. How do we know that? Because he told us. That's how honest he is about all of it. At the concert they told ARMYs it was medical issues with Yoongi and V, and cancelled the show and the next one the following night. I'm not sure if V was really hurt or exhausted at that time, or they were just trying not to put it all on Yoongi's shoulders. He felt so awful about it that he flew back to the stadium alone to spend some reflective time and then wrote an open letter to ARMY sharing exactly what happened and his thoughts and feelings and his remorse and love. It is such a courageous thing to do, his honesty, and always has been. And so odd and shocking in his industry. He even talked about that time in song lyrics in the song The Last: 지우고픈 그때 그래 기억 조차 나지 않는 어느 공연하는 날 The time that I want to erase, yeah, it was on a day of some performance that I can’t even remember 사람들이 무서워 화장실에 숨어 버린 나를 마주 하던 나 I faced myself who got afraid of people and hid in the washroom Also in The Last he says:| 이 모든 일들의 근원은 나니까 나 스스로 그만둘게 The cause of all these problems is me, so let me quit by myself As in - he believes he can change his mindset and heal his heart, which he has indeed been working on in front of us for all these years and seems to be succeeding at. Yoongi is so well known for his raw and courageous honesty about these things that other artists come to him for support and advice. When singer Suran was suffering writer's block and depression, she called him up. He told her to come by his studio (Genius Lab) and they talked and then he ran through a bunch of the songs he had already written in his vast song vault, and she picked one that spoke to her, and they worked on it together with him producing. That song went on to be a career boost for her and an award winner for them both ("Wine/If I Get Drunk Tonight" by Suran.) Yoongi is truly so remarkably strong and has been through so much.

Also, about the accident that crushed his shoulder - he lied about it, to everyone. He was still a trainee at that time and he was worried that not only would he be let go, but the others would not be able to debut either. All their songs were written and choreographed for 7 people and there was no time to redo everything, the company was hanging by a string and mortgaged to the eyeballs at that time. They needed to debut BTS soon or go under. Yoongi was also not supposed to be moonlighting in the dawn hours before school as a delivery driver, but he was doing it for school fees because he got no support from his family. That day it was pouring rain and dark and he was hit by a delivery truck. The MV shows a PG version of the accident. He told everyone he fell down some stairs and downplayed the extent of his injuries. He went years without coming clean to the company and his brothers about the extent of things and what really happened and it was 2020 before he finally got surgery on the shoulder. The old shoulder injury is why he got civil service for his military service requirement. It got so bad before his surgery that he could not lift a mug or a water bottle with his left arm and had to get injections in his shoulder for inflammation and pain before performances. We knew, all those years, that he was grumpy and tired, but didn't dream of the kind of pain he must have been dealing with every day. Sleep must have been difficult to manage with his shoulder like that. Here he is telling his brothers about his accident years later. Jimin says "remember when you fell down the stairs that time?" And Yoongi says "........Actually...." Watch their faces as they realize what he is saying and what it must have meant about how he had a near death experience in that accident and had to keep it a secret, and what he was really dealing with all those years with the pain. They mention that he used to B-Boy with j-hope for fun before that and suddenly stopped and they didn't know why at the time, and that he also stopped working out at that time. They also mention how he talked in song lyrics about "holding onto my broken shoulder" and they never knew what it meant before and thought it was a metaphor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLnajeR1N5U

If you like IU I for sure recommend reacting to Suga on IU’s palette, her youtube show and then her episode on Suchwita after 😃

At the time, Suga was hiding a great deal of pain behind his stoic and indifferent facade. Although it's less so now, he appeared mostly emotionless, lethargic, and aloof, leading many fans to misinterpret and criticize him as cold and unfeeling. However, beneath his stoic expression, he was enduring BTS's inhumanly intense schedule with a dislocated shoulder, severe depression, extreme insomnia, social anxiety, and a difficult family situation, all while keeping it to himself. Moreover, in such a situation, his only friend fell in heavy drug problems and ended up in jail, even trying to drag Suga in drug use. And.. looking at his first album, there was a time when Suga attempted suicide. However, no one knew his pain until Suga told his story through his songs. Even the members were shocked when they heard his first album, and Jungkook reportedly cried a lot. Back then, many people among the fans misunderstood and criticized Suga for his cold, stoic, emotionless appearance. But after learning about the mental pain he endured, many began to understand him and recognize the deep emotions hidden behind his expressions. l think this is one of the reasons why Suga's music feels so special to both him and us. Suga was able to release the many emotions built up in his heart, and we were able to understand his feelings. We used to say that Suga seemed like he didn't have tears, but now l know it was just that he was holding them back. Suga once said that music saved his life, even dedicating a song to his bond with it. Suga's passion for music appears extraordinary, not merely because of his love for it, but because it holds profound significance for him.
