When you apply for an enrolled depoll does this mean you have to attend the Royal Courts of Juctice in London , ? I have a depoll in the christian name and middle name and surname. I want to do an enrolled depoll dropping the middle name

Somebody mentioned on the zoom meeting about it being stamped and that it should state it in the year of our Lord . Do they do this automatically or do i have to request it is done this way and finally is there anything eles i should know because ive experienced the right run around when it came to my birth certificate. They sent me one first of all that was null and void! I was registered twice within 12 months as my mum and dad were not married when i was born and they married 4 months after and my surname changed

once you send it in and its all filled in then they will do the rest and then send you your part back which. will be stamped and recorded etc ❤️

I just called them and they said I have to be resident in UK to do the Deed Poll even though I am a British Citizen . Very sad 😞

Have I got this correct. I need to complete the Enrolled Deed Poll so that my name (which I am not changing) becomes legal/lawful. Looking at the document it refers to legally changing name. Am I correct in assuming that when I complete this process I will be given a legal/lawful document showing my current name. Hope this makes sense. Cheers Gordon

I am just doing my deed poll forms and came across this in the "before you start" section " you cannot Change any capitalisation of letters in your name " Is this new ? Is this a problem?

Hello folks, I might be adding my comment at the wrong place. and apologies if that is so. I do not have a middle name, however my attempt to alter from the capital surname appears to have halted. I received this line in an e-mail from KB Issues & Enquiries 'Please note you cannot change any capitalisations of letters in your name'.

Scotland Public Archives = The Scottish Public Archives = The books of council and sessions After the frustration of dealing with a solicitor and Registers of Scotland (ROS) to try get my hyphen name onto my house deed , they had altered my application sheet with the proper format and put JOHN-HENRY DOE (otherwise JOHN HENRY DOE) which was their second transformation of my application data from an incorrect first one as well. Having no joy with my first direct letter of complaint to them , I decided to DSAR them and inform them that JOHN HENRY DOE was a Tm and I still have another 3 weeks max before they reply to that . In the meantime I decided to carry out some extra research on the England and Wales enrolled deed poll and why scotland did not have that option using WILLOUGHBY GENIUS. On many of its references I noted it mentioned a Books of council and session as a means to put into the public realm, the preservation of legal deeds. As I was on thin ground with ROS, I decided to try the preservation first and filled in their form which is downloadable https://kb.ros.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0014/6260/CS1-application-form2026.pdf Section 1 = name(hyphen) and address proper format , email address, phone number extract type – I did 2 copies paper and digital Section 2 = N/A if your doing yourself Section 3 = notarised deed poll or notarised affidavit – one form for each deed required preservation only in my first attempt Section 4 = surname and double barreled hyphen forename in proper format Section 5,6,7 = N/A I did my nov 2024 notarized deed first , send by registered post, took couple days, I then received my digital extract by email and the invoice that you then pay by bacs or phone. I did not do my nov 2024 notarized affidavit because it enrolled deedpoll written on it and as this is not available in scotland I considered they may refuse that as they reserve the right to refuse anything that may not meet their legal standards. Luckily I had carried out an updated Aug 2025 notarised affidavit and it had on it that I was a Living Being, I used the longitude and latitude for my address and mentioned my baptism also stating that John-henry was my christian name and Doe was my surname as per blacks dictionary definition. I just received the Digital extract for that today so that was ok. I also got today my paper extracts which come in a nice folder and are same as digital but in physical form , The ROS in my cases have the Parties down as John-henry Doe and John Henry Doe and then their official stamp on it. This public preservation generates a ‘legal obligation’ but it is not the same as a ‘court order’ . The execution type generates a ‘court decree’ which is possible more similar to edp This was an initial experiment for public preservation which has now been proven fact . Any deed uploaded can in the future be updated or replaced so perhaps its possible to draft a deed that would have more enforcement powers , that can be looked into. Reflective comments on my own Scot Public archives post regarding name spelling On section 4 of the form, for Party information, there are 2 spaces for 2 different parties , I just filled in one space with my hyphen name in proper format However in the digital extract and physical paper, first page , ROS have filled in a second party name Page 1 date today Books of Council and Session Extract Registered on this said date Title of your deed or affidavit Parties: John-henry Doe John Henry Doe then your address at bottom of first page then on page 2 comes a copy of your notarised deed and an official ROS stamp with the name of the staff that processed it Both my deed and affidavit only refer to the old name with the full uppercase version In this process unlike what they did on house deed, ROS did not choose to put the uppercase version on the second party but chose the same natural format version of name as on the original birth extract of entry !
