Sorry this is late, I had planned to do it but got sick last week and kinda lost track of time. This last month has been one of my least productive.

Words Written in October:

51k Total. 34k Book 5 (132k total),  17k Soul Knight (61k total)

That seems decent, but this update is 5 days late compared to last month's update (Oct 7th) which is what I use to calculate (I just compare). I didn't feel like calculating the words released, you had the standard M,W,F updates of chapters, so it should be quite similar just without bonus chapters.

We're a little under 2 months remaining until I need to have this book done, so it's starting to be crunch time.  There's quite a bit of the book left to write, and I definitely want the ending of the book to be rather rewarding.

At this point, I'm doubting that I can make the final battles anywhere near as good as the clash of champions in either excitement or danger while keeping things true to the mechanics I've detailed in the story, but I'm doing my best. It feels like a lifetime ago that I was writing the Champion's Trial, but it's just been one year. Crazy when I think how far we've come.

Of course, I am looking forward to writing the ending of book 5. This arc has been long, and we have a lot of things on the horizon - class and race evolutions, Jake becoming King of Highlands, and more. When I get to this part, I feel like the story is practically going to write itself because the relief will be palpable for everyone.

I am going to lay off of too much of the 'next arc setup' and save a lot of that for Book 6, the filler arc. In many ways, Book 5 is going to almost feel like an end of the series. This should make it perfect for the small break I intend for Book 6, to be a bit longer before it comes out.

As for Soul Knight, I am only barely ahead of the weekly chapter for the legendary supporters. I have things mostly laid out in my mind how the rest of the book is going to go, but just haven't written them yet. I hope everyone enjoys Eirwen's Dream Date and everything, I had really enjoyed writing it. I'm excited about the Trial floor, I think it's going to be a ton of fun too. I'm essentially only writing this one chapter worth per week or so, that is my plan for now to keep things fresh.

That way I will be ready in January or so for when Bonded Summoner book 5 is written to focus on it for some time, and put it in Royalroad/Scribblehub. At that time, in many ways, Bonded Summoner and Soul Knight will change places. I don't know if I will do 1 per week of Bonded Summoner, but we shall see. After Book 5 wrap up, I kinda don't wanna look at it for a while, to let my batteries recharge on it. I have been thinking of Bonded Summoner entirely more than it has been healthy for over a year now. I need a break from it to keep it fresh for me, and plan out the upcoming arcs.

I haven't heard anything from Jack and Anne yet, but their original goal was to finish recording book 4 for the audiobook was supposed to be 11/10 - this was not a deadline by the publisher, just a self-imposed one. I am unsure what their actual deadline is, but I plan on nudging them tomorrow if they have an updated timeframe for me.

As always, thank you so much for your guy's support. I hope you are all enjoying my writing, and my journey. I started as an absolute beginner in this, and many of you have been along for the ride. See you soon!

I think most successful stories alternate between really exciting arc finishes and one or two arcs that build up the characters and their path. If the arcs have good foreshadowing/lead up to a big event arc I think it can make the series more rewarding over all. Even if people moan about the 'slow' arcs. Keep up the good work :)

Glad you're enjoying it. And yes, I'm aware that I shouldn't be overly mindful of people whining about pacing, but I do think this arc has gone on quite long. I'm feeling fatigued writing it after all. Book 6 should be mostly about fun and enjoyment, and setting up the future arcs. I'm sure book 7 and beyond with me cycling through them will be kept fresh as I start new stories like soul knight. I hope people enjoy that story as well.

Soul Knight is starting to get me invested, its fair enough that you want to cycle through projects to give yourself some variety. A lot of authors seem to do a book or two of a series then swap to another series and back again. I would say that you probably don't want to many series. People might not come back if their favorite series has a really long time between releases. I know I have stopped following an author that had five series on the go. Only liked two of them, lost interest waiting a year or so between releases.

It's definitely something I will keep an eye on. I know I would never exceed 3 series, especially since my stories are always epic in scope. The plan would be to alternate every 2 months or so, for 2 books a year of each probably. But that will just be once or if I do writing full time. Right now, I still work full time and then write on top of that.
