This video would never had made the main channel video, because it's too slow, but it's one of the most impactful interviews I've ever done with a victim. I'm proud to share it with you guys. It's a perfect case-study about how some of the smaller losses are WORSE than the really big ones.

LMK WHAT YOU THINK

This is what pisses me off about peoples refusal to have sympathy for the victims of this and other scams. They blame them and write it off as stupidity when in reality it’s much more sinister. Sure for some the motive in buying in was greed and stupidity but for people like this mom it was desperation. That’s why there are laws and bans on gambling. It has the potential to take advantage of a section of the population who’s desperate and hoping quite literally against the odds that they’ve finally found their miracle. It’s the same with crypto or any get rich schemes. They think maybe this is their lucky break. Maybe all the times people told them not to give up meant something. This is what they were hanging on for. Things will finally get better now. Hope can be dangerous. False hope is damn near pure evil. I’ve never fallen for a crypto scheme but I have definitely taken actions out of pure desperation hoping that maybe I’d finally found something that would make things better when my back was against the wall and I couldn’t see any light or a way out.

My son sent me this video about another scam (eyeglasses that help colorblind people to see in color) and lo, there’s Paul Logan trying them on and breaking out in tears seeing color for the first time. A few minutes later, he’s talking with his pals about how the glasses did nothing and he had to fake his reaction. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppobi8VhWwo

That's the problem. $2,000 here and there adds up for the scammers of these tokens but that $2000 for one individual is a big hit. Especially minimal to the developers if they lose.

Marko Drapic

Over $6000 lost for me. Thank you Stephen for giving us a voice. We are real people with real lives and real problems, not just numbers on the screen like those scammers like Logan Paul is having in his mind.

hi coffee, I love your content so much and I'm not exaggerating when I say that, this is my very first patron sub, in the past I tried but couldn't cuz of the restrictions on my card, but it am here now and trust me your patreon sub in one of my those spendings which I ll never regret

Shane Hanlon

Wow, it is heartbreaking to hear this. It is so sad to think about all of the crypto and nft scams over the past year or two. We need to bring light and awareness to these stories. It would be nice to have consequences.

Diane Ess

Hey Coffee. Happy to support you! Thank you for this content!

John Meyer

just finished the lex podcast, so happy to see you on there with him. You are truly one of the best journalists out there. Happy to support!

Yash Iyengar

Is there any way for us to support the victims ?

Joe Lamantia

I hope you find that Patreon becomes a great place for you and your cohorts to both expand your media presence and provide more in-depth on how you all make the videos. Unfortunately, you will have an almost unlimited supply of scams and liars to expose since crypto is still in the snake oil sales phase. 🙁

D

Oh god, I hate these stories. Doing great work coffee, I can't imagine the strength you must have to keep hearing these awefull testimonies.

fundawn

this was heartbreaking to hear hopefully she can recover from that loss

Javier

Protect this man at all costs!

Siraque

Hey is it just me noticing this cycle playing out, example Logan being a jackass again, didn’t break the cycle.

JM

Thanks for the content, time and effort. I appreciate we get this exclusive content, that said is there any avenue to also get this out there for everyone? I get its long form, but I think this will really resonated with some people and help prevent these influencer scams.

NaiaRose

Thank you for revealing the very human cost of these scams. This was so heartbreaking to hear. So often people focus on the big $ losses, but it's the people who only have a few thousand dollars to invest that are hit the hardest. Keep doing what you're doing, Coffee. It's SO important.

Crème De La Crème

You just got yourself a new member! Thank you for all the hard work you put into these cases. Your work is much appreciated!

Chris Riley

Would love to this video go public. Really shows the damage done to people simply trying to make a better life for themselves and their kids.

riccardo

Thank you for being the example of good journalism. It’s hard but keep pressing on!! Sending love all the way from Singapore

LaunchDude

Can we setup a Gofundme to help her recover her losses for her family? I'll throw down $100.

Thayios

The Fortnite V bucks relevance was real. It’s been a huge analogy I’ve used for both good and bad scenarios when talking to people explaining crypto (e.g. when the game is dead, all of your invested money is essentially gone).

FerA

As a financial advisor ( certified one) this breaks my heart. People are so naive and gullible. Regulations exist for a reason and although far from perfect, it does protect the investors.

Benny

Thanks for sharing this interview. While we fortunately live in a world where information flows freely, we also live in a world where misinformation flows just as free. A "financial course" recommending small investors to DCA into crypto, which is probably the highest-risk asset class and likely just one giant scam fest, is just as bad as creating a grift scheme like CryptoZoo. And in the end all these people work hand in hand to abstract money from people who have the purest of intentions but the least time to educate themselves. There's a special place in hell for people targeting the most vulnerable, where they hopefully have to pitch scams to each other all day and for all of eternity.

Adrian

man thats gotta be hard to hear hopefully shes able to recover from this.

Claire P

This is heartbreaking. I can see why you’re doing what you’re doing. A voice to the voiceless, Coffee!
