Holiday Island 0.0.9.2 has been released (fixed version) (Patreon)

This is the first content release for 0.0.9 alpha. The update includes all the files from bug fix 1 as well, so need to install 0.0.9.1 (bug fix 1)From now on, version numbers will simply be numerical. This is part of the new version management function.

The images in the update are now also distributed inside an archive.The update contains more than 100 new images, videos and icons.

There has been a major bug, please download 0.0.9.2 again. Sorry for that. The files have been corrected. Please redownload them if you did so before 17/04/2018 18:00 CET.

 New features and content

Game version for new games shows 0.0.8.4 when you save/load it the first time. Although it should be 0.0.9.2  -->quick fix added ( script.rpyc ) attached to this post

Version management has been completely remade. You now get some texts when an old save is loaded, telling you what the version management is doing. This will avoid bugs that were related to trying to make old saves compatible -->partofcontentaddon1

Joy office 2 scene starting over and over again has been fixed with the new version management  -->partofcontentaddon1

Some progress was not displayed correctly also fixed with new version management  -->partofcontentaddon1

Is the update going to break save games?:  Save games from 0.0.8 and later can still be used. Jennifer might get reset once. Earlier saves are no longer supported. 

INSTRUCTIONS: PLEASE READ THIS !!!In order to apply the update, copy the content of the zip file into the folder where you installed the game. Overwrite all files when asked.After that delete the folder named "cache" inside the "game" folder. Also delete the folder named "gui" inside the "game" folder (only necessary if you installed bug fix 1 for 0.0.9 alpha) and restart the game.

EDIT: I attached the latest fixes I made to this post. If you want to use the files, please replace the files in your game folder and delete the cache folder.

funny i started a new game this morning lol. It's all good i been resetting my game alot to see what changes happen in the game with the different girls. had to reset game anyhow joy kept texting like crazy for poker it was a pain in the ass.lol awesome game btw not many games can keep my interest. even for replay value. as my brain goes in 10 directions at once.Oops i seem to babbling lmao

Yes, you only need 0.0.9 + the update to 0.0.9.2.

Speaking as an idiot who didn't update their archived saves before 0.0.9.2 was released, could you link to 0.0.8 alpha again? That'll teach me (and others) to be more careful about backed-up older versions...

I'm getting errors. The one below is the first one I got after installing the fix and restarting the game. Then I got another when Heather appeared on the island at random. That was the 'natasha' not defined error mentioned above and resulted in her arrival scene skipping to the end. Also, Natashs is not in my contacts and is not available to invite to the island. I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred. Have you downloaded the files again? There was an error in the early upload. About your error message. It seems you are using a save that has not only numbers inside the version number. Don't remember I did that, but possible. To fix it open the console when you get the error message using shift+O after that type the following: g_game_version = "0.0.8.0" after that type exit to close the console The click the reload button on the screen. This should fix your save game (if it isn't too old to be compatible). If you save the game again now and reload it, the error should no longer appear.

Downloaded the files again and got the same exception. Typed in the console commands and reloaded but still got the same exception. Game version still reading 8-6.2.9200. Would it be best just to start a new game and delete the saves?

That's what i did erase the saves an start new game an no problems so far .Been playing it since Darkhound uploaded the proper fix- I started fresh so i deleted games saves in game folder also in your C:\Users\%profileName%\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\ look for a folder called Island-(some numbers) saves r in there too

I started a new game and deleted old saves. Thanks, THADEADMAN, for the suggestion. Everything seems ok so far but I've noticed that conversations with the girls now last for an hour instead of the 1/2 hour they used to be. Is that a feature or a bug? I just loaded a fresh save and received the message: Update Information Your save game version is: 0.0.8.4 Current game version is: (this is blank) Updates to will be applied now! Is that normal?

I'm back to getting the same exception. Console commands not working at all. I tried deleting everything on my pc and starting from scratch. Still getting the same exception. Seems to have everything to do with saving and loading a save. Otherwise, game works fine as long as you don't save or load.

Amazing game!! Quick question though because I’m sure I’ve messed something up... when I installed the newest version of the 0.0.9.2 I am able to do everything except have dialogue with Natasha. No options for topics of conversation to boost affection and stuff. Any helpful suggestions on how to fix this? I’ve tried reinstalling 0.0.9 as well and nothing seems to work. Thanks!!

Just noticed that there are no dialog options with natasha (for chatting), was this intended to make it more difficult to raise her affection?

weird i i been playing for hours and saving alot and reloading testing it out without problems The first save u make i suggest do it right at the start when u at the lobby desk then escape to main menu an reload game u will get message about version save blah blah this will only happen once i am on day 11. After day 10 with joy i picked natasha to come to island and everything seems fine and dialogue works fine. Here is what i did i deleted the whole game and also saved folders in C:\Users\%profileName%\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\ look for a folder called Island-(some numbers) then i rebooted my pc (not needed Jusst what i did) Booted up windows extract game folder Holiday Island-[v0.0.9.0]-Pc , then extracted new update Holiday Island 0.0.9.2 fixed version overwriting files once done i also deleted Holiday Island\game\cache folder then started to play game an i still am playing just alt tab to write here. i am running windows 8.1 Alienware btw if that matters. Hope that helps everyone i goin back to the game

Gotta say, I reverse what I said before about adding a new girl into the game. Natasha is awesome! Couldn't be happier she's in the game! That being said, I had the same issue that another poster above had, I didn't have any dialog options with her, but the console fix you said above worked! Really enjoyed her arrival at the island scene and beating her at poker! Please, keep up the hard work!

I don't mean to sound rude, but both games are free...you don't have to donate to either of them. Furthermore, and correct me if I'm wrong Darkhound, this dev is working by his/her self as opposed to a team of people now working on Summertime Saga. Additionally, I've never had any real issue with running the game, are you trying to run the Windows version on Mac? Or vice-versa? Are you following his instructions on installing the game? Maybe you just need to start with a fresh install? Regardless, chill. It's a free game. You see more action in this game than any visual novel you have to pay for on steam. I'm just glad anyone is making anything even remotely like this, let alone for free.

You probably loaded an existing save with the old upload. You can fix it using the console. Load the save game, then open the console with shift+O, then type: natasha.create_topics_list() after that type: exit to close the console save the game - after that you will have the chat options for natasha

I always try to help and solve problems as soon as possible. But I need to sleep sometimes and I have a full time job. In any case if you want help, you need to post the crash report you get. Otherwise I cannot help you because I have no idea what the problem is. I don't think it's the end of the world if you cannot play a game for 1 or 2 days ;)

I never asked you to make the addons. I make them. It is a service I provide. Not a burden for you. If you don't like to get more frequent updates, don't get the partial updates and just wait for the next full version. If you think it more productive to complain instead of letting me help you, there is not much I can do about it.

Myself personally Do not understand everyones problem. It is a free game and i been playing it since i saw 008 And i liked it very much.So that is why i became a patron! Not because i expect certain stuff right away (even though thats great) and all the trouble people have been having i cannot understand.The first posted 0092 file yesterday had problems but Darhound saw it an fixed it and i myself have been playing it since without any errors. except the save game version number but that only happens on loading your first save in new game just once.I myself have played it on 2 different laptops the farthest i have played so far is 19 days in the game and all works fine. all i did is exactly what i posted in response to another post on here to Daniella C well anyhow i am off to start a new game on my main laptop i use for games now i am done testing for myself.Also btw @Darkhound nice poker play with natasha thumbs up

Worked fine from clean for me, the few items could case serious trouble for those loading was fixed quickly (less than 1 hour) and the last ones a day later (today). Do not see that as problematic for a patreon game, it is beta for a reason. But obviously some can have some temporary frustration, we've all been there. Probably the Joy loop that triggered people. It is after all first time any (noticable) bug has lasted over a day. maybe we are a bit spoiled /chuckle.

I applied the fixes (I probably did something wrong, I'll try again), but I still can't chat with Natasha. However, if you're having this trouble, you can still play the game with her by giving her gifts (1 per day) until her stats are high enough to hug & kiss, then walk on the beach. It's more challenging, but I found it fun.

As far as Darkhound's dedication to this game & his Patrons, I couldn't have more praise! Yes, there are some bugs which are hard to fix, but he gets things out quickly. Remember, it's a big sandbox and he's just one guy who's filling it as fast as he can. I think all the patrons should pitch in to point out problems with the game as well as suggest improvements. A few months ago I suggested 11 different things I thought that the game should have. Now with the phone being able to zoom in, he's delivered on about 7 of them. That's great! This game is my favorite, too, & I remember when the time count was broken so that everything took twice as long, I had to give up playing it until it was fixed, but if you are patient, I think you'll see everything worked out to your satisfaction.

Enjoying the game even though I'm still having the same issues. No Joy or Jennifer for me but am hoping you'll be able to get it resolved. Natasha is so yummy, thanks for getting her in so quickly.

Hi, I'm really sorry, but I don't understand why or what problem you are still facing. I'm not getting any problem reports any more since I uploaded the latest files. So all should be working again. Can you send me a message with some more details and I will try to look into it to help you find a solution.

The problem with that was, that I already had developed and included too much stuff for Natasha that was partially finished. So it would have been a lot of work to change it all back to be able to provide the Joy office bug fix earlier. As for version management, I only keep the main versions of the game to be able to check or do corrections, not every little change. You have to do all that manually, since Ren'py doesn't support any real version management. Great as it is and all, it's also a software made by mainly one guy and it's not up to a really professional level in that regard.

Really good game. I applied the 0.9.2 patch but still have the second office scene over and over. Is it because I'm loading a save from 0.9 ? If yes is it possible to fix it or I need to make a new game ?? Thanks I will surely support this project if I see it growing up a bit ! :) PS : Sorry for my english
