Version 0.1.6 beta - development news (updated 01/05/2019) (Patreon)

Hi guys and gals, this post offers you a collection of news about the next full version of Holiday Island (0.1.6 beta) and the smaller updates towards it. 

There will be smaller, more frequent content updates, called content addons. They will include bug fixes and new content as well.
The change log below is based on the beta 0.1.5.0 release.

0.1.5.2 beta will need 0.1.5 base files and it will include everything from 0.1.5.1 beta with all content addons and bug fixes.

The next release is 0.1.6.0 beta which will be another full update!
It includes some bug fixes and a lot of new content!
Sorry, but there is no other way, since the new animation control from the tech demo requires the latest version of Ren'Py (at least 7.2.2).

The update from 0.1.5.0 to 0.1.6 has 454 new renders, videos and sound files right now!

New features and content

  • Yvette gets a more explicit scene as one ending of the private dinner appointment --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Full "replay mode" added for certain scenes (Joy's office scenes right now) --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Yvette gets a quest "worried about her sister" --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Yvette gets an additional "special" arrival scene --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Yvette gets a short event where she visits the MC in his room (is the starting point for the dinner appointment) --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Faye gets an extended pull ups scene in webp format with animations and three different endings  --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • The game will get more than 20 background music and sound (sfx) files --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Yvette will get the images to play "Hot Shots" with her, including a "hot scene" --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • You will be able to hide/show the left menu from anywhere in the game -->willbepartof0.1.6beta

  • Heather gets three extended pool pose options. Two will use the cool new animation control feature from the tech demo --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Heather gets the basic pool pose scene --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Yvette tells you the story about her first crush as part of the dinner appointment -->willbepartof0.1.6beta

  • Appointment with Yvette in the private restaurant with Yumiko as the waitress -->willbepartof0.1.6beta

  • Yvette gets a clothes selection scene for a private dinner --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Amy's pool pose scene will be updated and will get more renders and text. In addition, the scene will be in webp format at least 1920x1080 for all images. The achievements will also be updated to multi image format. --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Aly gets a quest for her fourth evening clothes, which she can use in the bar and to play  "Hot Shots"  -->willbepartof0.1.6beta

  • Aly will get the images to play "Hot Shots" with her, including a "hot scene" --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Groping has been added to the "special" achievements. Also updating the special images will no longer reset them (like with the 0.1.5.1 update) --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

Minor improvements and changes

  • You will be able to schedule appointments with the girls from any location by using the "talk about other topics button" --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • You can move the images with the mouse now when looking at the achievements on the phone  --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Possibility to hide the left menu has been added --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • More achievements have been changed to multi image format --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Save slots per page are now (4x3) instead of (3x2). Old save images won't look good (they are too big), but they are still useable. New save previews will look okay (they are smaller now) --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Jessica gets the 2 missing reception "breast flash" renders --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • MC taking a shower has been moved to a new function thah can be called now. it supports up to two individual "dream" images and two individual texts and has a shower sound effect. Also the old and the new player room are correctly supported. I will replace all the player shower scenes in the game over time. --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Amy gets a new dream image from the pool pose scene --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • During the poker game entrance, the girl will be offered to call the mc by his first name, which she accepts --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Yumiko will be at the night bar on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (it's an additional day - Friday, compared to older releases) --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

  • Jennifer's gym scene achievements have been changed to multi image format --> will be part of 0.1.6 beta

Bug fixes  

  • Fixed a bug where the buttons were disabled when you asked a girl to do pullups a second time  --> will be fixed with 0.1.6 beta

  • After the contests when you got an invitation from the winner and you needed to reschedule, a "random" girl image was shown sometimes --> will be fixed with 0.1.6 beta

  • Faye's dress color when sitting in the restaurant has been fixed --> will be fixed with 0.1.6 beta

  • Fixed another bug in the nightbar last call scene.  "NameError: name 'char1' is not defined" -->willbefixedwith0.1.6beta

  • Fixed a bug in the nightbar last call scene. Could lead to strange crashes image not found from a different girl that had nothing do do with the scene --> will be fixed with 0.1.6 beta

  • In the "guess who" minigame the following error can occur: IOError: Couldn't find file 'appointments/Amy/Amy_dinner9_face.jpg'  --> will be fixed with 0.1.6 beta

  • ScriptError: could not find label 'dinner_event_end' --> Accidentially an old file got into the update to 0.1.5.1. Sorry for that. You can download the quick fix file "appointments.rpyc" attached to this post to get rid of the error --> will be fixed with 0.1.6 beta

  • ScriptError: could not find label 'change_pl_max_affection' --> has been fixed with 0.1.5.1

  • Delizia won't actually do the 72 hour doctor scene, she just tells you to have one of the others do it  --> has been fixed with 0.1.5.1 

  • AttributeError: 'cl_character' object has no attribute 'talkl' --> has been fixed with 0.1.5.1 

  • Yumiko still has a placeholder to visit her room --> has been fixed with 0.1.5.1

  • If you've already played Hot Shots with one girl and then ask another the same night they say 'You've already played. Let's do something else.' but after they say this you can't choose any options. You have to rollback to get the options to hightlight again  --> has been fixed with 0.1.5.1

  • App to change pictures in the frame set the wrong image to the picture frame  --> has been fixed with 0.1.5.1

Is the update going to break save games?:  
0.1.6.0 beta --> Save games from 0.0.8 and later can still be used. Earlier saves are no longer supported.

Estimated release dates:  
0.1.6.0 beta -->  available since 01/05/2019

Not yet, it takes too much time unfortunately. The special outfit renders are in webp format in double resolution, which makes it very complicated to be added to the same list and logic as the older png renders.

I'm not aware that there is a problem with her story. Can you be a bit more specific what kind of problem you had with her story?

I went all the way through it once. Then, had the bar interaction with her at closing time and it started again. It was strange.

Can we have the option to have the girls change clothes at the reception desk. It'd be nice to be able to get all the flash scenes. Perhaps if you haven't payed enough attention to her for her to wear her skimpy costume, she could say, "Maybe if you're a good boy, I'll give you a reward." If you ask again, but too soon, she could get angry and say, "How dare you? You barely pay any attention to me while I'm stuck working here. Then when you do, it's to ask me to dress sexy for you!"

When the groping scenes are added to the achievements, I think that they should be separate from the flash achievement. Also, will the doctor flash and grope be added to the achievement?

Maybe the story could be put on a long cool down, like 2 weeks, so that we could get it again, but not often.

Faye has a red dress when she is sitting at the restaurant, but orange all other times. Can you fix her seated image? Also, I think all the girls should be able to flash the outfits they wear to the restaurant. Maybe if the outfit is complicated, she could say, "This outfit is complicated, I'll need some help." Ideally, I want to see the girls flash in every outfit they have.

I finally got the Ivy true strength scene. I like where the super strength thing is going. Maybe flexing could be added to the intimate actions, but I know that I'm in the minority on this one. However, as part of the strength story, I'd like to have the weaker girls flex and say, "My biceps were never this big before. Where did these muscles come from? I'm lifting way more weight than I used to."

I had trouble updating to 1.5.1 from 1.5.0. Everyone should check the About button to be sure they're running the latest version of the game. I think that my problem was that I used unren on 1.5.0, then tried to update and it failed. If you are having trouble updating, reload, update, then unren. It should work.

I think that I broke Yumiko's "Guess who?" mini-game. She sent me 2 pics then stopped for 30 days. Any way I can get her to start up again?

They will be part of the same achievement and the doctor won't be added right now. It's too complicated, since the overlay image is in double resolution and I have no way of handling that right now (without putting a lot of new code in).

Could it be done by creating an image specifically for the achievement? Just spitballing, I don't really know how it works. At least you are thinking about it. The reason I asked for groping to be separate is because it would add 1 more achievement to each girl instead of making one huge achievement.

I did. I asked her to stop, then I asked her to start again. I had no erection twice at Last Call. Maybe the chance for it to happen is too low. I'll try it with an older game & let you know. I just thought there was a code I could enter to make it happen.

Sometimes when you ask to switch girls they start in their skimpy outfit, which can't be changed to regular.

I have heard that from others as well. It shouldn't be like that. I've checked the code and couldn't see any errors. Do you have a save file on end of sunday where that happens on the switch to monday?

There is, but I have to search for it myself. I didn't create that part of the code. I had a little helper santa named Wilson who did it for me :)

It happens when you switch ask to have a girl reassigned to reception, but the previous girl was wearing the skimpy reception outfit. The new girl appears wearing the skimpy outfit also.

When we get achievements like yoga or weightlifting, but especially Aly posing topless at the pool, could we see all outfits as we do for the flash achievement? So under Aly posing topless at the pool, you would see 4 of 8 when you got her to do it in the blue bikini, then 8 of 8 when you got her to do it in the skimpy bikini. Alternately, there could be multiple achievements for the same act, just with different outfits. For instance, each girl could have a pecs training in bathing suit, pecs training in bikini, pecs training in skimpy bikini. You initially objected because that many achievements would foul up the phone interface, but now that there is scrolling it wouldn't be bad. However, I understand it's a lot of work, especially when you're adding sounds, etc.

Short answer - no, not if it's the exact same scene just 2 or 3 times. The way the game is designed right now doesn't make a destinction between outfits within the same scene.

ok I have been a supporter and I love the game. I don't know how to go about this so im letting you know here I found a error in script when your weight lifting with Ivy. you cant ignore it only rollback and the reload option didn't work you can only close the game out

My bet is that you are still running 1.5.0. It's been fixed in 1.5.1. Click the About button to find out what version you are running. If it's 1.5.0, try updating from the Patreon page. If that doesn't work, you may need to reload the whole game and then update. (That's what I had to do.)

Suggestion for a future update. An intimate action to be added after the flash action: Breast Kissing or Sucking. After you succeed at getting her breasts out of her clothes, a dialogue option could appear for you to ask her if you can kiss them. If she is alone and her lust and love is high, she'll let you.

Suggestion for a future update: Booty Calls. From 11pm to 3 am, a girl could text you that she's lonely and invite you over with a button for accept. If you press it, the scene starts. Some girls might just want to cuddle all night (Jessica or Aly), while others would be looking to have sex, then kick you out (Amy or Joy).

I thought of only 18 renders for 18 girls, but I forgot to multiply by 9 outfits. Perhaps it could only happen if the girl is wearing her sexiest outfit. She could say, "Normally, nothing could make me do that in public, but this outfit always makes me feel so sexy, let's do it." Put it in the possibly pile for later.

Yes, it is a known bug fixed with 1.5.1. Check the About button to make sure you aren't running 1.5.0. You may have tried to update, but the critical parts failed because you ran unren. You may need to start over. Load 1.5.0, then update, check to see that it took, add the new appointments file, then unren. Good luck.

Idea for 1.7 to make appointments easier: Afer we know a girl's measurements, we hardly ever use the "Serious Talk" button again. (I don't know what to call this button, but it's under the regular talk button.) Add another question: "Can we meet up later?" If you don't have all her measurements, she'll answer: "I don't think so, since I hardly know you." If she has any anger, she'll answer: "Not interested! I'm still mad at you!" Otherwise, she'll say, "Sure! Where and when?" You choose from the beach, the pool, the gym or the night bar, then pick the time. This way you wouldn't have to catch the girl in her room in order to schedule the date.
