There was a club for fans called Akira Toriyama Hozon Kai. In 1984 they got a special postcard with two characters they have never seen before. Goku and Bulma. Introducing for the first time. One month after the first Dragon Ball episode was published in Shōnen Jump weekly magazine!

You know, even after all these year's, Dragon Ball / Dragon Ball Z remains my favorite. It's infinitely re-warchable. Going through a divorce, it might sound strange to say but it's one of the things that kept me alive. I'm infinitely thankful for Akira Toriyama and all of his creations. I never knew the man, but I sure do feel like I did. The world without him in it is a very difficult thing, indeed. But you know, he gave us so many wonderful things to cherish for the rest of our lives.
