Do kids these days know what antennaes are? I hope this reads as a TV and its remote companion.

I whipped this up thinking the remote was likely the “controlling” wife, but attempted to make their sexes ambiguous with autumnal clothing. To my surprise, several people managed to see the TV as an abused feminine member of the relationship! I may lean into “girl” colors for the remote, even though that feels like its own sort of sexism.

I think the ambiguity tells its own story. People will project their own bias into it.

The heels (and maybe horizontal torso lines) made me assume the remote was feminine and the tv masculine, fwiw.

"It's all about communication", also, being a big CRT means he can't run away or be easily stolen and will likely be buried along with the building. XD

I feel this so hard. I see some people's 50-year marriages, founded either on complicit subservience, or living separate lives that never touch, in the same physical house, and I'm like "This is what I'm supposed to revere?"

I read it as the (man) TV tuning her out while she was talking although that doesn't really fit the mute button metaphor.

Is that one of those newfangled IR remotes? Our first TV remote still made high pitched beeps...

I think it’s great as is but I am 50+. The hardware issue for me is not the antenna, which actually looks great as a representation of an aged pate with just a few flyaway gray hairs. What I see out of place is the remote looks too new, too many buttons, compared to the sort I associate with old CRT TVs which only had power, volume +/-, channel +/-, and maybe number pad. But it’s not very much out of place. The gag works well. Thanks!
