Happy Earth Day! While rushing to finish this one, I struggled a bit with what the spoken line. I’m attaching some sketches of the old versions, as well as a possible wordless version. I’m not sure what I’ll eventually publish, but if you have thoughts, feel free to share.

Love it! I like the "we're here to talk with you" or wordless version best.

Lara Bryant

I like the caption you chose as well as the picture with no caption at all. The picture's message is strong enough not to need an explanation.

Matt Sayar

"Hey Earth, we need to talk"

DB

The wordless one really hits. A wonderful snapshot of the awkward pause right after Earth opens the door and stands, frozen, taking in the scene. I wonder if the smoke or bottles or floor detritus can include nods to some of our best ecological disasters or if that would be too political cartooney...

Got to bring him back down to Earth

Javier

I think you picked the best caption. It really colors Earth's personality and introduces an element of timing

AOV

Wordless. With the first one I thought he was bringing more alco to a party and makes a dad joke based on "vast". That steals focus too much imo.

Alex

Who's that ninth planet there..?

I’ll take a little time to make the wordless version presentable. I’ve been leaning into the Things for Heads comics pretty heavily because I want to collect them in a book. In a book, the pamphlet will get the attention it deserves

I like the wordless version very much

John Baber-Lucero

Even with the caption, I had to puzzle out what was going on -- the pamplet clue finally unlocking the solution. I probably would have understood faster if I didn't first spend so much time trying to parse the caption for possible puns. Wordless seems best. Earth's stance and apartment convey well enough that he's got a problem.

Carey Griffiths

This is beautiful! I do love that you can see the smoke a lot more with the wordless one but I trust your judgement.

Danielle Corsetto

I love seeing all the other options you toyed with! The final one and the silent one are both the best ones imo. :)

Eunice

I like the final and the silent versions as well. I feel like the text of the pamphlet in the visible back pocket helps with the context/subtext.

Lawrence David Thompson

I think you could have gone one step further and removed both the spoken language AND the back-pocket pamphlet. There are enough clues, visual clues, to get your audience where you want them, to wit,the ID on her lanyard, and his god-ID around his collar. The empty bottles, and the blood donor canceled check (his arm bandaid) are evidence enough of a soon-to-be-happening intervention.

I meant to say closer to time: Venus should show up only as a picture on the end-table/mantelpiece, brought out as a reminder of whom they'd already lost....
