Thanks Ben. That was great. I have a personal interest as someone learning Japanese. Even that brief outline of the voting system a step ahead along with the analysis os the LDP the ever dominant party to an outsider.

Hi Ben A post election request-suggestion: Coverage of other countries’ polls tends to be weak on the internal political geography. However over past decade it has been fairly easy to get the local coverages’ election maps - UK, France, US. But difficult for eg Canada where I never really found a comprehensive map, but just a list of electorates (where my limited Canadian geography hampered a reading). So if I know that Tealls won what were previously nice middle class suburbs and solidly Liberal but now have a greater mix of apartment dwellers and renters and that western Melbourne and Sydney used to be solid Labor but now have an influx of people who want to own a house wherever it may be. I have no idea for Japan (or Thailand) where the LDP has always won, where it swept into seats rarely held, where the Socialists etc hold what seats they retain and so on. Getting that geographic sense would be a great addition to your discussions as and when you cover the world.

Thanks Conor, I'll bear that in mind.
