Thanks Ben for the SA coverage. A point for your thoughts. I do not know Adelaide as well as I know say Melbourne. The outer so called Labor heartland seats are changing demographics: they are the less expensive-cheaper places for anyone to buy. As far as I can see they are becoming much more like swinging areas, with younger people concerned about the immediate, many of whom may have come from the east. Is that true in Adelaide in those meant to be rusted on Labor areas? similar point about the inner east of Melbourne where apartments have become much more common bringing a lot of renters of just able to buy people - far from traditional Liberal voters. Just somethings the analysis needs to update the assumptions about who lives in an area: political demography can change due to the mix of people changing, not just to people changing their preference.

So I don't have quite as much of an encyclopaedic knowledge of the history of SA seats, but to take two examples: Elizabeth and Light both had 2PP margins of over 20% prior to this election and are now quite marginal to ON. So yes I do think they were genuinely very safe right up until 2022.
