Hi everyone,

It's been a while between updates but I wanted to give donors a peek into what is going on behind the scenes with the Tally Room.

I am well advanced in finishing my guide to the 2021 Western Australian state election, which will be held on March 13. As of the time of writing I've finished guides to 50 out of 59 seats, then I will need to do profiles of the six upper house regions. I'm hoping to have something out in the world next week.

I am hoping to kick off the podcast for 2021 in about two weeks. My plan at the moment is four podcast episodes focused on the WA state election in February and March and then will think about doing episodes more focused on the federal election.

Outside of covering the WA state election and running the podcast my priority will be preparing guides to the federal election and the NSW local government election.

I have also done some work preparing new datasets for the Tally Room data repository. If you check out the repo now you can find datasets for the 2020 Queensland state election and the 2020 ACT election, as well as a dataset covering Queensland by-elections since 1996 and updating the Tasmanian upper house dataset to include 2019 and 2020. I haven't yet had time to do the 2020 NT election or a number of other smaller elections. I have also been given some raw data that will allow me to add a number of extra WA state elections from the 2000s so at some point I will want to add them, but I won't get to it until the election guides are well underway.

That's about it for now. I know I've been very quiet but a lot has been going on in the background! Expect a lot more public content in February: podcasts, the state election guide and some blog posts.

Thanks again for your support,

Ben
