This is Fallout before the bombs drop. If authorities are just slightly more incompetent then canon, everyone dies. Rather than most everyone. Especially the Vault Tec power grab. Mr House remains the best asshole autocrat who may still be right. I really hope the show doesn't screw him up.

IIRC even in the Bethesda slop world building while Vault-tec had heavy governmental ties they weren't directly taking over as it seems is the case here. If I had a short time to think of what could make Fallout worse, like a 3 hour time limit to bomb drop, I'd probably jump to "The bigger idiots in the setting, Vault-tec, are either in charge of or are going to stage a coup as the bombs drop" as my number 1 most likely scenario. Either he got lucky that that was the case or, due to the heavy ties, there happened to be a vault-tec rep in the room that would be likely to over react to someone claiming Vault-tec was going to take over and could be counted on to inadvertently give credence to the story by over-reacting.

I don't know enough about Fallout lore to pick out Truth from Lies, but I imagine someone could use all the comments about what is Believed versus what isn't to figure how this world is different from canon. Because only Lies are Believed.

Time travel has got to be the best lie to reveal the truth. All I have to do is say that they learned something in the future and I would be a lie even if the something is true.

Rereading it, I noticed all the capital b 'Believable's intersperced in the text that indicates the use of that Perk, really showing how the more overthetop plan was better than a more realistic approach. I love that detail!
