Good heavens would you look at the time? It's ass beating o'clock! lmao

Necrosis

I think pyrrha actually can't explain. Like she's physically/mentally being stopped from explaining. Which if that's the case will set the mc off greatly

Dragonhulk

Yeah, this will make or break J&P. Though it is nice to hear that Junecifer is getting as tired of the dragon in joke as some of the readers are. I just hope he doesn't decide to do a full transformation during the festival. There is letting groups know, and then there is tipping your hand to the enemy before you have to.

Andrew B

Honestly, the lack of communication is starting to make me think some sort of geas - like semblance is involved, because otherwise it’s turning into character bashing for no particular payoff, and that doesn’t fit your writing style so far.

Michael Friede

Yeah, this just traveled across the line into mental control territory. As in, Pyrrah literally cannot speak as she wants to, and her repeating the same phrase is what keyed me in. That sounds like someone under a geass or something, who literally cannot speak. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense. Someone mind-wammyed Pyrrah, and thats….really bad.

suspiciouscoffee

Jaune will have seen something like that before but he doesnt remember because company shenanigans. Ren will have though, and possibly mention it later once P is out of earshot. Hmm...

Denn Mael

There are semblances like that, at least in the expanded lore. CFVY and SSSN tangled with someone with hypnosis powers in Vacuo. Considering how quasi-wuxia Mistral is turning out to be, having a "Geass" to either 1 show proper respect to the ruling houses, or 2 honor the spirit of the tournaments rules. I wonder if we get another Pyrrha PoV chap how much of her narration will be in a different color? (like it was in Ozpin's PoV chap).

Denn Mael

Me, I'm hoping that he does a Clark Kent style disappear into an alley way/phonebooth and transforms to fight the big ol Wyvern.

GAMB42

Amusing that nobody is even commenting on Cardin's team failure. Expected but amusing anyway. Pyrrha has rapidly approached my Master/Stranger alerta this chapter, but I am actually curious how a possible mindcontrol action would have even happened here. I am assuming Beacon is secure so maybe during her time in Mistral? It is just odd all around and is probably going to end up as one hell of a blow up.

J0hn_D03

Oh wow, didn’t even think about the mind control angle. Absolutely thought this was just Pyrrha being raised too polite to actually say she’s being racist because of his “dragon instincts” lmao

Vrenze

That was fun and I have not been one to go on about a -cifer's moralizing, I really like it in fact, but this being the third (4th?) chapter with nothing substantive* but the same argument is getting a little tedious. *4 nobodies fighting and one of which was glossed over heavily doesn't feel very substantive or meaningful. Would have been fine if it wasn't just the prelude to a copy paste argument with slightly more outside input than previously. Looking forward to the story progressing.

Dragonhulk

Ruby would be dreaming about all the amazing sniper shots she could make from the air while riding June. Yang will complain on how she missed on having the Long(est) ride of her life.

Dragonhulk

That was my take as well. Her repeating the same phrase over and over didn't even set off any alarm bells because I know people like that.

Necrosis

I said it earlier but it might be that she's physically/mentally compromised. She literally can't say anything else.

GAMB42

Until this chapter I was tending towards cultural issues together with Pyrrha's self appointed role of Jaune's keeper being the main reason behind. And yet her inability to answer him on the precise issue he has has me verging on more esoteric backgrounds to her not answering. Though I am still thinking the actual issue is with her mindset more than anything right now. It is just that, for once, Jaune is the one with all the power. What he says goes and that is a rather amusing turnback on pretty much all his interactions. He is a Dragon after all.

Tony Martin

This makes far to much sense. Mistral would absolutely want stuff in place to prevent peasants from rising above their station.

Michael Friede

Right? Like, her just repeating the same phrase over and over with a seeming inability to articulate any form of coherent argument is setting off so many alarms because it’s way beyond “out of character” at this point

Vrenze

Maybe, and that would be an interesting plot point. I don't know the source past the first 2-ish seasons and that was years ago

Nathan

She's driving me crazy

Arsylvos

Could be a culture thing for Pyrrha, females could be in charge of the relationship

Robert Kohen

Doesn't the Stamping share Jaune's defenses with her? Because if it does then he does have soul, mind, and Body defenses and they would at least fray any sort of mind control. If it isn't mind control I have to second some of the others in the criticism that the argument has been dragging the story down. It's circular and while that is something that can happen in real life in a story it is frustrating to deal with. Honestly with how the others started to interject I figured you'd have Blake have an ah ha moment and help explain what cultural moor Jaune is stepping on that Pyrrha can't explain

Vrenze

Saw some people in the QQ thread that just got the first instance of the argument point out that The Spider, or the Spiders text color, was used in connection and maybe there's something there. Also, Defense is not Immunity is a thing thats come up in Lee's and Cherico's stories a couple times.

Kyle A. Pemberton

Really dislike this arc so far. I really hope something changes soon. It's either mind control which I never like in stories especially out of the blue like this. Or poor characterisation which is even worse.

James

I feel like I just got thrown off a cliff. Fuckkkkk
