Change of Plans

Nice new chapter I think it's great that they're going to an AU A(TLA)verse instead of star wars, and the fluff is cute

Turncoat

This is an unexpected, but not unwelcome change. Mina continues to be the absolute best of girls.

So I distinctly remember you talking about how you liked the Avatar fanfic Embers at one point so I gotta ask: Did you create that whole Mission just so you could send Dencifer to Embers? Not that there's nothing wrong with that, considering that Dencifer would be a bit too OP for canon Avatar I think, and the fact that I haven't read Embers (yet) will let me be surprised by new developments which is always nice.

Joel Morgan-Bullock

Oo what's that AU? Hopefully something more peaceful so Dencifer can get a break

cybersonicyoash

...Avatar during the (literally) 100-year war is a Tier 4. Avatar during the Equalist Attacks/Harmonic Convergence/Red Lotus Attacks/Earth Empire Expansion is Tier 4. He's going to an AU that is likely Tier 5. It very much won't be more peaceful, and will likely make Dencifer question his 'manager's' definition of 'vacation' when he realizes the full extant of it.

Zerak

So I have more questions after reading this chapter. The question from last chapter + why did the defences ping? Was his quirk trying to combine with bending?

Templar9999

I like the way you handled the change of plans, and especially the destination. Although I do wonder if this is specifically an Embers adjacent AU. Typo correction. Extreme cold exposure causes hypothermia Hyperthermia is related to excessively hot environments Anyone that has worked in an ER has seen at least one

Boopthesnoots

Will he learn the chi blocker style and will it work outside of atla humans or similar with chi points cause not every setting has those chi points

Mr Mouse

Don't know if it's an Aus' thing, but it's also called heat stroke

Templar9999

That is the colloquial term for hyperthermia, yes. In the US as well.

Uhhh... if it *is* the world of Embers by Vathara then they may end up with an immortal evil apocalypse-junkie dragon queen after their asses in short order. Preeeeetty sure she'd kick AfO's ass in the supervillain stakes. Good times. (That is one damn good fic, highly recommend.)

Apeljohn

1) Shouldn't he have gotten some extra points when his world jumped tier? Or is that one of those "left to the whim of the manager" things? 2) Do we know if time is passing in the MHAverse? Or can he go back to it later and pick up where he left off with a clear head and extra power-ups?

PublicLee Speaking

The payout wasn't because the world jumped tier, but because the WC and the people running it mis-tiered it as one lower than it actually was, so he got less points than he should've had originally. WT changes due to the world itself changing don't give a bonus.

Apeljohn

No, not a queen with draconic tencencies; an actual fuck-mothering dragon the size of a large ship. It can also shapechange into human and did the Tamamo No Mae seduce-the-ruler thing one time, hence "queen".

Apeljohn

...Also: “Right, right, just… do you think they’re watching now?” 3) Yes, Mina. Yes we are. >:-)

Just coming back to this: if the AU is what we all think it is (Embers by Vathara), then the different Nations have different traits hardwired into them by their Bending lineage. Off the top orf my head: Firebenders must obey their Lord; Earthbenders must honour their contract; Waterbenders must cleave to their family; Airbenders must follow their Way. It's not remotely cultural either. An Airbender who needs to seriously reconsider their Way can expect anything from intense days-long soul-deep agony ranging up to just dropping dead. The only one with a get-outta-jail-free card is the Avatar... which empathy gap creates its own problems given that he's stuck diplomatising all these crazy people. By my read, those effects are what the Defences were protecting them from.
