All Over but the Crying.

Alice

So how many are we talking? 10? 50? 500?

Templar9999

I'm glad this didn't go immediately into another battle sequence. A freshly empowered Oz and his staff would make short work of the swarm once they deployed. The carnage was almost certainly due to the initial surprise and the time deploying would take. Moreover, we just got through two major battle sequences. Pacing is needed. The question is, how many survived. Because other than the 4 main city states, most places do not have the power to survive these kinds of attacks. I imagine every major and minor human settlement was attacked. And I imagine this sequence of events has played out countless times in the past. Humanity progresses to the point where they can start using back against the Grim. Retaking territory long since fallen. The deaths of multiple alphas or behemoths at once awakens the sleepers. The titans mobilize to cull humanity and force a new dark age. They sleep for another age. Repeat until the world ends. The interesting thing is that the Areana Behemoth referred to Jaune's dragon form as a thief. Meaning the two brothers co-opted the original magic of this world. The Titans are likely the original Grim. The ones that predate their arrival.

While personally I can’t vibe with just not caring about the death and destruction that occurred, after explaining his literal inhuman mindset (which isn’t that inhuman actually) I still find myself liking Jauncefier

We keep getting this undercurrent of building horror. The fact that you didn't use the tide to burst the bubble makes me very curious about how big the boom will be when it comes.

Dragonhulk

Interesting theory about the Brothers. Considering the comments Lee has made about the so-called good brother of light I can see something like that happening. I doubt you hit the nail on the head but I can easily see both brothers being far more sinister then Ozpin or Salem thought.

Zerak

This is basically the natural conclusion if anyone was actually controlling the grim. Just create endless tides one after the other. You don’t even need to win against the hunters, you just need to keep it long enough for the supply lines to get fucked and people to starve.

Edit winced, know why -> knowing why. Port caught the expression, and, his hands tightening

I mean, it does take mystical resources to create the Grimm, so they're 'endless' the same way a stream is. That said, who says they want humanity completely eliminated?

Zerak

Shitty canon.

Grimm can detect negative emotions, maybe those emotions are food or part of the mystic resources required to make new Grimm. If people all die off there won't be any more emotions to use for whatever.

It is probably not that clear-cut regarding the Titans themselves. I strongly doubt they simply emerge whenever humanity just advances. This seems more like a case where Jaune's presence caused the "ambient" mana to spike, which made the Titans awake to see what was happening. From my point of view, it is much more likely that the "gods" were travelers of some kind who visited Remnant and did something that forced the older civilizations to disappear, one way or the other. Then the Salem situation happened and they left for a specific not stated reason.

GAMB42

If you consider what was revealed in MHA about his manager/handler this situation with his inhuman instincts is probably part of what his manager is trying to do by corrupting and breaking him.

Tyric Gaias

What was revealed? I don’t read that story

PublicLee Speaking

Eh, even if I was trying to stick to it, remember the problem of Exposition Fairies, they can be wrong, and that's if they're even seeming to be truthful, which, given Salem, the 'existential threat to all of humanity' was just chillin' in a cottege outside of conspiculously un-destroyed town, I'm gonna mash X to doubt.
