Nate keeps mentioning the inevitability of AI gaining consciousness as a consequence of increased intelligence. You should all do some examination on what consciousness actually is and what it does, and if it is actually a necessary condition for higher intelligence. I recommend reading the novel 'Blindsight' by Peter Watts to freak your bean and cause you to completely reevaluate this assumption
