My dad loves to do take trains when it is only like a day trip even if it is expensive. Tinny Bladder.............. Plus you can walk around more.

My freshmen year in college I took Amtrak from Purdue to Chicago to get home since I a) freshmen weren’t allowed to keep cars at the dorm, b) the station was right outside the campus, c) I was too young to rent a car, d) no one loved me enough to come get me. It was the worst trips ever!

Amtrak can be an affordable option. My girlfriend uses it to visit me for a few days at a time since she can't drive. The length of the trip is about how long it takes by car and the cost is about the same as what I would pay in gas.
