So the Australia things: We have a very right wing Republican style government and they get in almost every election, because our media is almost entirely right wing Murdoch owned or literally run by former politicians from the right wing party. (And when I say right wing, I mean the Prime Minister's wife is best friends with Q annon people who get paid tax payer money to keep her company) They don't like that social media is making it easier for people to see news other than right wing stuff and the government wants to keep their free protection racket so they're pretending a link showing up when you Google something out post a link on Facebook is Google and Facebook stealing their content, even when the media themselves put the links there so they'd very much like to make them pay Murdoch and friends to ensure they keep getting elected. Also the rape thing? Turns out it's probably more than just one person who got raped and Prime minister's office knew about it for years and didn't do anything about it, leaving the rape victim no choice but to go public so that something would be done about it, but don't pay attention to that, just get mad at Facebook for not wanting to give Murdoch money for providing them advertising and don't look at all the corruption. It's a shit show down here.

Update: There are now 4 women saying this same member of the Prime Minister's staff has sexualy assaulted them, and the "alleged" offender was given positive references to move on, while the initial woman making the original complaint has had their family and partner dragged through the mud. So, that's a thing.
