[Alexandra’s Apartment] [Morning]

Lucifer arrived at Alexandra’s apartment expecting something far more predictable.

When she invited him to spend the day with her, his mind had naturally prepared several possibilities. A quiet lunch, a private conversation, perhaps a few hours wandering around Los Angeles before eventually ending somewhere more interesting. He was Lucifer Morningstar, after all. Most days involving him had a tendency to become complicated.

What he hadn't expected was what Alexandra planned for the day.

She opened the door. Her hair was tied back, and she wore a simple shirt and leggings. She looked beautiful even without her makeup.

"Hey," She smiled.

"Good morning," He said.

Lucifer looked from her to the chessboard.

“You invited me over for a battle of intellect before breakfast?” he asked.

Alexandra smiled while stepping aside to let him enter. “You seemed like the kind of person who would appreciate a challenge.”

Lucifer walked toward the table and picked up one of the chess pieces. “Darling, I appreciate many things. Beautiful women, expensive cars, excellent drinks, and proving that I’m smarter than everyone else.”

“That last one was the only thing I was talking about.”

“Then you’ve chosen wisely.”

Alexandra closed the door and went to the kitchen to bring their breakfast as Lucifer sat in the chair before the chess table. A moment later, she walked into the living room with a tray and placed their breakfast on the table.

The game started casually, though Alexandra quickly realized Lucifer wasn’t exaggerating his confidence. He played with complete comfort, moving pieces while barely looking at the board. His attention stayed mostly on her, watching her expressions as she considered every move.

The strange part was that Alexandra didn’t seem frustrated when he gained the advantage.

She looked happy.

For Lucifer, that was the part he hadn’t expected.

She wasn’t trying to impress him or use the time to get something from him. She simply enjoyed sitting across from him, drinking coffee, laughing whenever he made an overly dramatic comment about her strategy, and occasionally surprising him with a clever move.

After nearly an hour, Alexandra finally placed her queen into position and trapped his king.

Lucifer stared at the board.

Then he looked at her.

“You’ve been holding back.”

Alexandra laughed. “You were too busy talking.”

“A dangerous strategy. Distracting me with your charming personality.”

“I think you were distracting yourself.”

Lucifer leaned back and accepted the defeat with surprising ease. “I’ll allow it. Losing once every few centuries keeps me humble.”

After breakfast, Alexandra changed the pace completely.

She moved the furniture aside in her living room and placed a yoga mat on the floor. Lucifer watched with curiosity as she stretched before looking toward him.

“You’re actually doing yoga?” He asked, confused.

“How do you think I maintain my body?” Alexandra replied.

Lucifer glanced down at himself. “Fair point. I spend a lot of time taking care of mine as well.”

“That’s different.”

“How?”

“When was the last time you went to the gym? Or did some actual exercise?”

Lucifer smiled. “Every night and sometimes during the day and at noon.”

"Really? Sex?" She raised an eyebrow.

Lucifer’s grin widened as he stepped closer to the yoga mat, his eyes lingering on the way Alexandra’s leggings hugged her form while she settled into a stretch. “Among other vigorous activities. Though I prefer to think of it as highly specialized cardio that happens to involve excellent company and far better scenery than any gym.”

Alexandra rolled her eyes and motioned for him to join her on the floor. “You’re impossible. Come on, if you’re going to spend the day here, you might as well try something that doesn’t involve a bed or booze.”

He lowered himself onto the mat across from her with an exaggerated sigh, rolling his shoulders as if preparing for battle. “Very well. Instruct me, then. I shall endeavor to follow your lead without causing irreversible damage to my dignity.”

She guided him through a few basic poses, demonstrating each one with practiced ease while he mirrored her movements with surprising grace for someone who claimed never to need a gym. Lucifer kept up a steady stream of commentary, complimenting her form one moment and questioning the necessity of balancing on one leg the next, yet he never once looked bored. Every time she corrected his posture with a light touch on his shoulder or hip, his attention sharpened, the playful arrogance softening into something quieter and more focused.

After several minutes of flowing from one stretch into another, Alexandra transitioned into a deeper pose and looked over at him. “You’re better at this than I expected. Most people complain by now.”

Lucifer held the position with effortless balance, his voice low and amused. “I’ve had considerable practice remaining flexible under pressure. Besides, watching you move like this is its own reward. You’re rather mesmerizing when you’re not busy outmaneuvering me at chess.”

A faint flush colored her cheeks as she shifted into the next stretch, the morning light catching the curve of her smile. “Flattery won’t make me go easy on you later when we switch to something more challenging.”

“I would never want you to,” he replied, matching her movement. “Where’s the fun in that?”

...

After yoga, they left the city behind and drove toward one of the nearby hiking trails.

Lucifer watched Alexandra's relaxed expression as they walked.

The trail gave them space away from cameras, reporters, and the constant expectations that followed her everywhere. She could walk in peace.

Lucifer noticed how much lighter she seemed.

They talked about random things as they walked. Movies she wanted to make, places she wanted to visit, embarrassing moments from auditions, and the strange reality of becoming famous while still feeling like the same person from before.

Alexandra occasionally asked about him, though Lucifer carefully avoided explaining anything about Karl or his past life.

Instead, he gave her pieces of Lucifer Morningstar.

Some exaggerated.

Some surprisingly honest.

By the time they reached a viewpoint overlooking the city, they'd talked enough that the silence between them felt comfortable.

Alexandra leaned against the railing while looking at the view. "Isn't it great?"

Lucifer stepped up beside her and rested his hands lightly on the metal, letting his gaze drift across the sprawling city below. “It is rather magnificent from up here, though I must admit the company improves the scenery more than any viewpoint ever could,” he said with a soft smile while glancing sideways at her.

Alexandra’s shoulders relaxed further as a light breeze tugged at the loose strands of hair that had escaped her tie, and she turned her head just enough to meet his eyes. “You say things like that so easily, yet somehow they never sound empty when they come from you,” she replied.

They continued their day by heading toward the beach for lunch.

Lucifer chose a restaurant with an ocean view, because apparently even a casual day required a little luxury. Alexandra teased him for refusing to eat somewhere ordinary, though she admitted she enjoyed the view once they sat down.

They ate seafood while watching waves crash against the shore. Alexandra removed her shoes and walked along the sand afterward, forcing Lucifer to follow despite his complaints about getting sand everywhere.

He said it was an unreasonable attack on his perfectly tailored suit.

She ignored him.

The afternoon became even more ridiculous when Alexandra revealed the next activity.

Laser tag.

Lucifer stared at the building entrance and said, “You brought the Devil to a place where children run around pretending to fight?”

Alexandra crossed her arms and smiled. “Yes. Because apparently spending an entire day with you requires finding activities that remind you how normal people have fun.”

Lucifer looked through the glass doors at the groups of people wearing glowing vests and carrying laser weapons. A part of him wanted to complain. The Lucifer Morningstar side of him saw a ridiculous game designed for children and adults who refused to grow up.

Then another part quietly remembered something else.

Karl.

A younger, more ordinary version of himself who had spent countless evenings wishing he could do things like this. Going out with friends, laughing without worrying about bills, running around like an idiot because it was fun instead of because it served some greater purpose.

That small piece of Karl inside him immediately found the idea far more appealing than Lucifer wanted to admit.

Alexandra noticed the hesitation and smiled knowingly. “So, you don't want to try it?”

Lucifer looked at her. “Absolutely not.”

She raised an eyebrow.

He looked back at the laser tag arena.

A few seconds passed.

“Fine,” Lucifer admitted. “I am mildly curious.”

Alexandra laughed as she walked toward the entrance. “Mildly curious? You looked like a kid staring at a toy store.”

“I was analyzing the tactical possibilities.”

“Sure you were.”

Inside, they received their equipment and listened to the employee explain the rules. Lucifer stood there with a glowing vest and a laser weapon in his hands, looking completely out of place among teenagers and families.

The employee smiled. “First time playing?”

Lucifer looked offended. “I have existed for thousands of years. I assure you, I have participated in far more dangerous conflicts.”

The employee blinked.

Alexandra covered her mouth to hide her laughter.

Lucifer looked down at the weapon in his hands. “Although I suppose this is the first time I’ve fought a battle where nobody actually dies.”

The employee decided not to ask further questions.

A few minutes later, the arena lights dimmed.

The walls transformed into a futuristic battlefield filled with glowing obstacles, dark corridors, and artificial fog. Music played through hidden speakers as players scattered across the arena.

Alexandra immediately disappeared behind cover.

Lucifer stood still for a moment.

Then he smiled. 'Oh yeah. Time to show them who's the boss.'

The competitive side of him awakened almost instantly.

He moved through the arena with effortless confidence, using shadows and corners as if he were tracking an enemy army. His movements were far more dramatic than necessary, though he clearly enjoyed every second of it.

A teenager stepped out from behind a wall and fired.

Lucifer turned at the last second, avoiding the shot before tagging him twice.

The teenager stared. “How did you do that?”

Lucifer lifted his weapon slightly. “Experience.”

The boy shook his head and ran away.

A few minutes later, Alexandra spotted him from across the arena. She had been following him carefully, expecting him to spend the entire game showing off.

Instead, she saw something unexpected.

Lucifer was actually laughing for real, and it was completely different from his usual confident and teasing chuckle.

She smiled before raising her weapon.

“Got you.”

Lucifer's vest lit up.

He looked toward her in surprise.

Alexandra stepped out from behind cover with a victorious smile. “Looks like the Devil can be defeated.”

Lucifer placed a hand over his chest dramatically. “Betrayal. Absolute betrayal. How could you?”

She shrugged. “You were distracted.”

“Impossible. I was conducting a tactical evaluation.”

“You were laughing.”

Lucifer paused.

Then he smiled.

“Perhaps I was.”

Alexandra lowered her weapon slightly, watching him.

That simple admission seemed strangely important.

She had seen plenty of versions of Lucifer already. The charming nightclub owner, the arrogant flirt, the mysterious man who somehow had some kind of trick to reveal others' desires, and the man who made her heart race faster.

This version felt different.

This was someone enjoying a silly game because he wanted to enjoy it.

'I wonder how many layers you got, Lucifer,' Alexandra thought.

After the game ended, they sat outside the building with drinks from a nearby café. Lucifer leaned back in his chair while Alexandra looked through the score screen on her phone.

By the time they got out of the cafe, it was already 6 PM.

They walked through shops, argued playfully over ridiculous souvenirs, and eventually ended up before her apartment.

...

Alexandra's apartment building came into view. The day that had started with a simple chessboard had somehow turned into breakfast, yoga, hiking, seafood by the ocean, sand-covered shoes, and Lucifer Morningstar acting like a child inside a laser tag arena.

Lucifer parked the Corvette near the entrance and turned off the engine.

For a few seconds, neither of them moved.

The quiet felt different from the silence they shared on the hiking trail. It wasn't uncomfortable. It was the kind of pause that came when neither person wanted the moment to end yet.

Alexandra looked through the windshield toward the building before turning back to him.

"I had a really good day."

Lucifer rested one hand against the steering wheel and glanced toward her. "Naturally. You spent several hours with me. The outcome was almost guaranteed."

She laughed softly and shook her head. "You really can't help yourself, can you?"

"I could," Lucifer replied. "I simply choose not to. Life becomes terribly dull when people stop appreciating my excellent qualities."

Alexandra smiled, though her expression slowly became more sincere.

"Thank you."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow. "For my outstanding personality?"

"For putting up with me today."

That answer caught him off guard.

Alexandra looked down at her hands while continuing. "I know I dragged you around everywhere. Chess, yoga, hiking, the beach, laser tag. You probably expected something completely different when I invited you over."

Lucifer leaned back slightly, studying her.

"And what did you think I expected?"

She hesitated before smiling faintly. "I don't know. Maybe something more like what usually happens when you and someone spend time together."

Lucifer opened his mouth, ready with a clever response, but stopped.

He knew exactly what she meant.

His reputation existed for a reason. People approached him because they wanted excitement, pleasure, danger, or some fantasy they thought he could provide. Even his relationships usually followed a familiar pattern.

Alexandra had invited him into her life for an entire day and somehow managed to make him enjoy activities that had nothing to do with seduction.

"I must admit," Lucifer said after a moment, "I wasn't expecting today to involve being defeated by a woman at chess, attacked by yoga poses, forced into sand, and hunted by teenagers with glowing weapons."

Alexandra laughed. "You make it sound horrible."

"On the contrary," Lucifer replied with a small smile. "It was surprisingly enjoyable."

Her smile softened.

"Really?"

Lucifer looked at her.

There was no joke behind his expression this time.

"Really."

Alexandra looked away for a second.

"You're different today," She said.

Lucifer tilted his head. "Different how?"

"I don't know." She turned back around, looking at him closely. "You weren't trying to put on a show for anyone, or steal the spotlight. You were just having fun."

Lucifer glanced down briefly. The words hit him harder than he anticipated. Mainly because she had seen right through him. For most of his existence, everything had been a game of control- commanding the room, dictating the conversation, manipulating how people perceived him. Even the charm he wore like armor was always entirely intentional. Yet today, for the first time, he had just existed.

He had laughed during laser tag because he actually enjoyed it. He had walked beside her because he wanted to. He had spent an entire day with someone without wondering what he would gain from it.

That realization was strangely uncomfortable.

And strangely wonderful.

"I suppose I was reminded that enjoyment doesn't always require some grand purpose," Lucifer admitted.

Alexandra looked at him with curiosity.

"That sounds almost philosophical."

"Careful. I have a reputation to maintain."

She smiled. "Right. Can't have people thinking Lucifer Morningstar has feelings."

Lucifer placed a hand against his chest dramatically. "The accusations are becoming unbearable."

Alexandra laughed again before opening the car door.

She stepped outside, then stopped.

Lucifer watched as she stood beside the Corvette, her hand resting against the door.

"So, you got plans for tonight?" She asked. 'Say no, say no, please say no. I want to spend some more time with you. Please say no.'

"No."

"Wanna come in?"
