Pokemon AU lore: OTL

Childe is a water type gym leader on his way home from visiting his family, has an egg that Teucer gave him. He somehow crosses paths with Bennett, a brand new trainer who just set out on his adventure (albeit a bit old to just be setting out but that's only because he's so unlucky with pokemon!! Only Scorbunny, who also has the same misfortune problem, can travel with him)

Anyway; "Ajax" helps Bennett out of one of his many bad luck situations and offers to help him to the next town. After a while it's obvious Bennett has no idea who he is (gym leader) so I guess he just sticks to traveling with him because he's bored of being a gym leader. Nobody recognizes Childe because he usually wears a Foul Legacy type costume during gym battles, also he goes by Ajax when he's pretending to be an average citizen. Also the egg hatches into Toxel, who treats both of them like its parents (it's very embarrassing)
