What current work can I show my patrons? Nothing consequential, I’m afraid. I’ve been working on my animation project, and am learning through hard internet experience that sharing isolated drawings and 10 second tests means next to nothing outside of the context of the finished film. That’s part of the “magic” of animation. So long to make, and in a few minutes of viewing, it’s over. But all my life, I’ve been saying I’d complete one solo, and I am at least dedicated to it, and pleased with what I’ve been doing. I’m getting the stark black-and-white feeling of an animated woodcut. I am challenging the CGI glitz that has taken over with its exact opposite; the silence and shadows of the art’s earliest days, however little it ends up meaning to what remains of my “career". What’s the best I can do, show it on YouTube for free??

Aside from this, I’ve been doing a batch of commissions, most of which you’ve been seeing on my Facebook page.

I’m waiting to hear from a client for whom I am doing what he projects as a six drawing series of “warrior angels”. Here are some jottings for the third in the series, done while half asleep on the pad I always keep beside me on the bed.

And I'm still waiting for my projected comic on CLR James to be printed; it's supposed to be this month.

Cheers, your loving

MK
