PAINTINGS NOW! (Patreon)

I'm at work on a series of paintings. They are all at a scale of 30 x 40", which is about as large as my studio can handle without having to go onto the porch. These were inspired by the sketches I've been making for years. "Zany", from old sketches that inspired a client to assign a commission, got me started. Doing for my own pleasure and edification and decoration, but someone here might be interested in a show. 

I'm not trying to muffle being a cartoonist in these. It's Kartooning with a capital 'K', as Howard Post once said. Thank God I'm not working on a deadline. I've been doing an average of a painting every one or two weeks; I'm basically winging it, hitting brick walls, painting over with black gesso and starting again. I'm concentrating less on 'technique' than trying to elude disasters. It generally works out into something. All to fill in time before another commission comes my way.
