Hello everyone,
here's a little preview of the new conversation system I'd like to introduce into the game. Essentially, I want every interaction you have with someone to be animated.
I would like the facial expressions to change during the discussion based on the choices you make.

  • The eye would allow you to zoom in on interesting parts of the image.
  • The speech bubble would enable you to start a conversation with someone, thus bringing up the choices on the left. (The icon disappears when the conversation starts.)
  • The cross is for closing or skipping the conversation, because it could be interesting sometimes not wanting to talk to someone.
  • The mouth icon could be used to kiss characters, whether on the forehead, as in our case, or on the lips if you have an affinity with the character.
  • And the hand could be used to caress or to hug someone by taking them into your arms, so depending on their affinity with you. Either they're into it and let you do it, and they might even do things in return. Or if you don't have enough affinity, you could get slapped, or a refusal, or...
  • This feature wouldn't necessarily be limited to sexual content. It could very well be there for emotional or friendly content with other people.

For now, you'll notice that Iris doesn't blink.
There was a small bug during rendering, and I'm not sure why. But obviously, in the final version, she will blink.
I also need to make her hair move because it doesn't look natural.
But for those unfamiliar with 3D software, you should know that some hair has gravity that simulates movement in an animation.
Unfortunately, a lot of hair doesn't have this, which is the case with Iris's hair.
So, I have to animate it manually, which is quite time-consuming, but I'll get there, don't worry.

Now, I have a question.
If you want to give me your feedback by message, I'd be interested. It's possible to make the character move her lips when responding.
Eventually, all female characters will have voiceovers when I have the budget.
It's very expensive.
Thousands of dollars for just one character.
I had gotten a quote for Iris and Gladys for voice actresses for the first update.
If I remember correctly, it was around 4000 dollars.
But I need to check my figures; I'm afraid of making a mistake.
But it was in that ballpark. So, I can make their lips move.
Unfortunately, I find it not very good.

I think it's not well done. It can be a bit scary, sometimes a bit too close to the uncanny valley. But maybe I should show you an example to see.

But in any case, I like this new system, even though the video of Iris is far from final.
It's just a preview, knowing that it's very rare for a video in the game to work on the first try. And generally, a video is made and remade, some videos, maybe ten times.

What do you think of this new system?

(If you want this text in your native language, ask for it and I will translate it. I'm not sure which languages I should use for messages on Patreon, so let me know which languages you want for the posts.)

Are you ready to update?

Vincent Vega

I was going to comment my opinion on this but just seen this thread is from a couple months back so no doubt any decision has ready been made and acted on upon. Hope it works out well for you
