Content

Hi there my dear Patrons,

This post contains the backtest output files, strategy and optimization files for the Gumbo strategy I found on the Internet a while ago.

As promised in an earlier post, I will be more selective on which strategy to make Youtube video's of and which not. This way I have more time to improve my methodology and also can add more valuable content to my audience.

As said earlier, the video's and posts on algorithmic strategies that are not successful are not watched very much and only contain good information on how it was build up. These ideas can then be used as inspiration (or a warning) for creating your own trading idea.

So, in a way you can also call this strategy is a blog/patreon exclusive :-)

Additional backtest information on WINNING / LOSING STREAKS

The watchful eye that has read the blog post on this strategy might also see something new in the overview I provide after backtesting on multiple timeframes.

I have spend some time adding additional information about the way a strategy behaves in relation to the trades amount and trades percentage.

I have removed columns about the date the backtest was made because it did not provide additional information. Instead I have made a new calculation that provides insights in the way the strategy has winning and losing trades. This way you can also expect some insights in the way a strategy internally behaves.

There is a Amount of trades column added so that you can see how many trades an algorithm makes on a certain timeframe. And also I show you what the maximum winning/losing streak (M) is and also the average amount of wins/loss streaks.

So if you make your bot run a strategy and you see it constantly lose trades. Now you have an idea how long certain streaks can last on average and on max.

This is more of a psychological factor and will not count against the score of a strategy.
You can now prevent yourself from turning a successful strategy 'off' after it has a lot of losses because you now have information that this also happens in the past (no guarantees in the future - as you know). So you can leave your bot alone because things can turn around positively again at some point (theoretical) :-)

I hope you like this new addition and get even more insights and information on algorithmic trading strategies behaviour!

I also have new Ideas on the analysis of backtest results, but will keep you in suspense here for future information about this.

Thank you for reading, and I will see you in a new post...

Goodbye!

Hi! Not too sure if Im being silly but in your strategy league files I cant find any of the strats.py. I see for each strat you include a screen output, a export.json and export.meta.json. what must I do?
