Data / software updates

The first day of the new year hast past and it gave me an opportunity to update some of my Freqtrade bot stuff. 

I currently am updating all the data for the current backtesting pairs so that it includes the data of 2023 as well. 

The developers also have their monthly update schedule and the current version of the Freqtrade bot is now 2023.12. Since this version also has a different way of storing OHLCV data i am also planning to download all the data for backtesting in the Feather format. This will take some time too since I'm planning to make some posts/videos about the following subjects:

Coming video / post ideas

1. I'll start by adding all downloaded data into a post so that everybody is again on the same page as I am. Remember that I also have a 'product' in my shop (https://www.patreon.com/dutchalgotrading/shop) that contains the files I use -  and keep on using - in 2024. These will be likely the json files for FT version 2023.7. Files will be exclusively on Patreon for my supporters!

2. For my next mini project I am planning to do a series of tests of the top 25 algorithms in the strategy league and see how they would perform in 2023. If you thought why I did not use the 2023 data for backtesting, well this is one of the main reasons. So now I hope to see some proof of the pudding. Would the 25 best scoring algorithms really also perform well in 2023 or did some strategies just had luck catching a major pump in the past data? Now we will have more information on that as well.
Mind you though that these tests will not alter the results of the strategy league! That league is a comparison of algorithms on pre 2023 data. So do not expect changes, and this is the reason.

3. I have an idea for a couple of video's that will focus on attaining BTC or ETH or other quote pair and which of the top25 strategies will be suited best for that purpose. It would be nice to find out if any of these would perform as well on other qoute pairs too.

4. I also have an Idea that focusses on trading platforms and their performance in relation to the strategies. I already created a script that downloads the best 100(!!) pairs (based on market cap) for different FT enabled crypto exchanges.  The question here is which Exchange has the best cards in hand to help you attain your wealth with a trading algorithm and bot trading.

5. Besides this I'm continuing to find even better performing algo's. I still have loads and loads of python code lying around from different corners on the Internet. But this year I also want to focus more on trading strategies that are proposed in Youtube video's. Let's find out if they really deliver or overpromise to make you watch and waste your valueble time!

Btw. If you have any suggestions about these videos please share them with me and I'll plan them for the future!

Besides these ideas, I still have to make some time to continue with my datamigration from my old site, ebook and data analysis platform for yet another view on these trading algorithms. Not to mention my trading, familly life work, sports and some free time to relax. Time gets more scarce and more valuable as more and more ideas pop into my mind. 

But no matter what, I will keep on posting for you! Because I really value your support and I hope I will not dissapoint you in 2024.
