A short story of betrayal, blood, and the fall of vampire sisters

The castle walls trembled as the sun bled into the horizon, casting a final crimson light over the ancient stone. In the heart of its cold, forgotten halls, three figures stood still as statues, their pale skin glowing like moonlight: the Crimson Sisters, daughters of the dark, queens of the eternal night.

Lilith was the first to hear the breach. Her golden hair framed a face that had not changed in centuries, yet her eyes were filled with ancient weight. She stepped from her chamber, robes trailing like smoke, and whispered, “It’s begun.”

The intruders came silently, armed with stakes of black ash and blessed by dying priests. Leading them—eyes hard, jaw clenched—was a man with a scar down his cheek: Marku, brother to the hunter Ivana once loved. He had sworn vengeance.

And she—Ivana, the youngest, the most human—had led him here.

Lilith's Fall

Lilith met them in the grand hall, beneath the shattered stained glass of saints long forsaken. She moved with dignity, even as Marku raised his stake.

“You think you understand what you destroy,” she whispered. “You never did.”

He lunged.

She dodged with supernatural grace, seizing one attacker, tearing into his throat with savage strength—but it was a distraction. Marku rolled beneath her reach and drove the stake into her chest with both hands.

Crack.

She gasped. Her eyes widened—not in fear, but fury.

Blood surged from the wound, black-red and steaming. Her fingers clawed at the wood, her lips curling into a snarl. “You... dare…”

Her legs gave out. Her body dropped, knees buckling, the weight of centuries collapsing. She sank slowly, regally, as if even death would not rush her. Her head fell back, and with a final exhale, her eyes turned to glass.

Selene's Wrath

Selene’s scream tore through the air like lightning. “Lilith!” she shrieked, fangs exposed, eyes wild.

She descended the staircase in a blur of shadow, moving too fast for mortal eyes. She tore two men apart before anyone could react, their bodies tossed like broken dolls.

But rage made her reckless.

A second stake flew through the air, impaling her shoulder—but it was the one that followed, buried deep in her chest, that ended her fury.

She clutched the shaft, snarling, blood pouring over her fingers. “No... no... I’ll kill you all…”

But her limbs were already going numb. Her eyes fluttered. Her breath came shallow.

“I’ll burn the skies...” she whispered, collapsing next to Lilith, blood pooling between them. Her lips twitched, trying to speak her sister’s name one last time, but her voice faded into silence.

Ivana’s Betrayal

Ivana stood alone in the doorway, watching her sisters fall.

She had not raised a hand.

Marku turned to her, stake still dripping. “It’s done.”

Her eyes welled with tears, but not from regret—only grief. “I never wanted this. I wanted peace. You promised me peace.”

“You led us to monsters,” he said coldly. “You got peace. Now you get truth.”

He stepped forward, raising the final stake. Ivana didn’t resist.

She stepped closer. “I loved him.”

“I know.”

And then the wood drove through her chest.

Ivana gasped, her eyes wide in disbelief as pain tore through her. Her knees hit the stone floor, blood spilling in waves, soaking her black gown.

“I loved you too…” she whispered—to her sisters, to her love, to no one.

Her body slumped beside Lilith and Selene, fangs bared but powerless. The three lay side by side, queens of a fallen reign, destroyed not by holy men… but by love’s betrayal.

Epilogue

They say the Crimson Sisters still haunt the castle ruins. Sometimes, the wind cries three names. Sometimes, lovers disappear, their hearts pierced as if by invisible hands.

Because curses born of blood... never truly die.

And neither does betrayal.
