In the dying light of dusk, the air was thick with the scent of rain and ancient blood. Selene, the centuries-old vampire queen, had ruled the shadows for over five hundred years, her beauty untouched by time, her reign unchallenged. But every empire has its end.

Jonas Varek, the last surviving hunter of his bloodline, had tracked her across continents, through whispered legends and half-forgotten ruins. Each step brought him closer to the moment foretold by his ancestors: the night he would face her under the ember glow of a setting sun.

She stood before him, her fangs bared in a scream that was half rage, half disbelief. Even now, with the wooden stake piercing her heart, her golden hair framed a face too perfect to belong to the mortal world. Her black lace dress clung to her like the shadows she commanded, the dark fabric soaking with the crimson of her curse.

Jonas’s grip did not falter. He felt the violent shudder of her body as the stake drove deeper, her talons curling against the inevitability of death. The horizon swallowed the sun, and with it, Selene’s power faded like ash in the wind.

Her scream became a whisper. A final breath. Then, only silence, save for Jonas’s own pounding heart.

He had done it. But victory felt hollow. Somewhere deep inside, he knew the darkness was not gone… only waiting for another night.
