Also in my private Christian school we took a class called “family life skills” which was supposed to show us how to run a home ig but it was just us watching Dave Ramsey content 🤩

I remember my aunt constantly talking about "Financial Peace University" and how much it helped her and my uncle. She's a nurse practitioner and he was a contractor. To this day, she still buys all their clothes, jewelry, linens, etc at thrift stores and yard sales. Everyone at her church that took the classes made 6 figures - back in the 90's.

YEP. He is proof that if you just have blind confidence and nothing else, you too can have high school kids do packets about the stuff you say which is scary but also oddly comforting as I try to figure out what I want to be when I grow up (I’m 27)

A major thing that Dave Ramsey pushed that y’all may have skipped is how much he pushed and emphasized using cash instead of using your cards. Specifically the envelope method. You weren’t supposed to transfer either. So you had to carry like 10 envelopes with you l, each one labeled “groceries, gas, etc” .

Also we were taught Dave Ramsey in church in Sunday school both in high school and after graduation. It made me feel so gross and negative.

I bet Dave has mostly bots and inactive accounts following him. There’s no way the numbers are legit. Most of his base has died because they’re old and didn’t believe in Covid when they died of Covid. Also I think most ppl who listen to him still are rage listeners if anything. Then of course the Jordan Peterson crowd. There’s some tools to figure out if there’s mostly bots following you and I’m sure that’s how some brands (cough Elon, Fox, Trump) still survive

What an infuriating episode, this stuff makes me so angry. In no small part because I was the victim of a lot of financial abuse from my ex-partner. I'm still digging my way out of that mess. How about THAT Dave Ramsey?!

I was trying to figure out what a potential employers starting salary was 2 days ago and Glassdoor would not let me see anything until made an account and I reviewed a past employer and that's when I knew something was fishy. I work for a personal loan company and I work with debt management companies negotiating settlements on defaulted loans all day, and the “snowball” thing, which is a bad description, is basically how these DMC’s work while taking an up front fee, and a percentage of your monthly payment in return. Feel free to contact me if you really want to be PO’d about payday loans, debt management companies (even the nonprofit ones) and how they work together to keep people in debt. If I could get any other work from home gig, I would.
