SAME. I live in Maryland. I remember gathering in a bus with other youth groups and going to Pittsburgh to do community cleaning. Which I mean ..ok. But they had teenagers cleaning up dirty needles and honestly, there's more helpful things we could've done for impoverished communities.

The way this unlocked a weird memory of learning about “Tight eyes” in school. Because I took dance for my PE credit, and we had to learn about hip hop, and I remember watching a PowerPoint, and we got to the krumping slide and there he was. I also went to Catholic school 🤣

They made a great point about the whole deliberately equipping young folks to fail the “rumspringa” period of their youth and fall back into the fold of Christianity, and I’d love to hear more about this specially. This is something that I feel like not enough people talk about. It gives institutional Christianity and air of open mindedness that it actually doesn’t have.
