Y'all this is a traditional podcast, with a traditional married couple talking traditionally about the original Trad Wife, The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. Now, circle the wagons and listen to Mrs. Pearlmania explain to all of us how the pioneer woman is not a simple ranch hand's wife. The twists and turns of this episode will boom and bust you like an Oklahoma oil town built on the bones of prairie massacres.

Take your down home Walmart cookbooks and floral print air fryers off the shelf and get ready to cook up a tale that makes Yellowstone on CBS seem plausible.

Oh no, I'm getting hot already from the pending roast. Can't wait to listen to this.... so I'll listen now!

When money marries more money - a love story? As someone who lives on a farm and has to travel for groceries, the Pioneer Woman always drives me bananas. I get her concept, but it is not her truth.

JK

I'm not finished listening to this yet, but, oh my fucking god. @35min

The “Pioneer Woman” is a local piece of history. Ponca City is home to the Pioneer Woman Museum and statue which memorializes the women of the land runs and settling of Oklahoma. If you remember, Paula Deen famously said some not-nice things and Walmart dropped her merchandising line in 2013. They tried replacing her with Rachel Ray for a while and then settled on Ree Drummonds Pioneer Woman brand in 2015. Osage County Oklahoma is also home to the largest protected preserve of native tall grass prairie in the world. I’m not saying it was the Drummond family’s intention to preserve the native tallgrass but it certainly helps to have such a large chunk of land being used for ranching rather than split into 40 acre farming parcels like it would have been if it had been elected for use in a land run. As for the Pioneer Woman aesthetics which may not be to everyone’s taste, they do work well with the Joanna Gaines’ farmhouse style and the Hobby Lobby of it all. Those 3 brands are not to be underestimated in Oklahoma.

I hate that I love her cookbooks. Her ghost writers do a decent job at making the recipes easy to make.

Can we use long pig to make Salisbury Steak if we don't eat beef?

Milfshake

Alex: the lady who puts butter in everything and said the N word Me: *inhales* that bitch is PAULA FUCKING DEAN AND FUCK HER

Shea

Salisbury steak is my go to microwave dinner. 🤣

Emily

Salisbury stake is awful, but I’d still love Mrs. P recipe of it. I love the little cookbook idea. It think it be super cool if you did one that was all Mrs. Stuff and another that is favorite recipes from your patrons.

Pelicans are my favorite dinosaur

Do you have Began Salisbury steak? a portobello mushroom cap will do. The Oregon land fucks hate the BLM that is Black Lives Matter out of pure racism, not confusion with the land management folks. Watch the most recent season of Fargo (not set in Oregon but definite Ammon Bundy vibes.

Pelicans are my favorite dinosaur

Oh and I hated Bobby Flay since he was on "Iron Chef" against Chef Morimoto and at time, he jumped on the counter and stood on his cutting board, which is pretty offensive to real chefs and was disrespectful to Morimoto in particular

supersaiyansquirrel

Salisbury steak! Really loved this episode and can’t wait for next week!

Witch Of The Waste

Salisbury steak! I also have a hatred for all those food network stars so I really loved this one.

To the point at the top of the podcast, I did join to financially support the show, and also to gross out Mrs P(sorrynotsorry), but I joined PRIMARILY because I hate ads.

snelly

I know about Rae’s BS since last year, I am so glad there are more people now who hate her 🙌🏼 ps her products are trash and not functional

S.K.

Being from Oklahoma, this is the story for SO MANY towns in this state. It’s rough. Also, good job Mrs. P for pronouncing all the names of the towns really well. 🙌🏻 lol

Kathryn Dirks

I would buy a Mrs. p church style cookbook!

Hey-hey it’s Wah-say

I appreciate your rage around the obvious historical disparities and ongoing wealth

Inigo Montoya

I HAYTE Pioneer Woman from the deepest cockles of my black heart!

✨Sparkling Misandry✨

Jennifer

Okay, I hate everything Pioneer Woman stuff except these cute cow plates that I was gifted. Salisbury steak? Have y eaten it since childhood.

Masha

I still stand by running my Bobby Flay Hate account on Tumblr in the 2010’s

Maia

I’m so glad people share my hatred of Bobby flay.

orion_is_tired

Growing up on the Oklahoma border I had a vague idea of the Drummond family, but this was truly enlightening. I haven’t had a Salisbury steak in years, but I might get one just because of y’all.

Wiscoliz

I just made Salisbury steak with my sister last weekend! Not the Pioneer Woman’s.

Kat Roy

I have never eaten a Salisbury steak and now maybe I need to change that. I was gifted a set of Pioneer Woman casserole dishes & they're really good quality & the pattern isn't horrendous. Which I hate because I can't stand her.

Taris Harlow

Mrs. P’s Downline Dinners for a cookbook title. I was right there with Alex when he was freaking out during the episode because I was pretty sure I knew where this episode was going. I was furiously stirring my dinner while listening to this, but I wasn’t making Salisbury steak.

Snarkelupagus

HELL YEAH, DENTAL INSURANCE! Gotta take care of the luxury bones, our oral health literally effects our entire body

We need the Mrs. P LINE OF COOKWARE!

Andrea Hay

Salisbury stake… did they pull the video down from YouTube?

Pearlmania500

It’s still up , it’s titled “ The Trad wife brand built on a throne of skulls and lies” lol ~ Mrs. P

I became aware of PW because she had a Basset Hound. We have Bassets and my son liked the books about their “ranch dog” or whatever. Also I found her merch with Bassets at the thrift store and I have like all of it. (Nothing floral, yecch.) I have a synagogue cookbook story: my Nana was late in submitting her recipe to her synagogue’s cookbook so they just added in the most vile jello dish under her name.

I went to college with Pioneer woman’s son. I did not know him. He was in football and I was not in that crowd. But ironically that school is a super liberal state school with ultra low tuition.

James the Lass (Guldan wears a merkin)

I was in a relationship with an Osage guy when I lived in OK and he grew up on the Osage rez and his parents lived in Pawhuska, so I have been there several times, but not since they opened the Mercantile. It was almost the smallest town I’d ever been in, and nothing was ever open. I’m glad it’s been revitalized a bit, but I hate how it happened ☹️

That_Wokelahoman_Teacher

I live in Oklahoma, and one of my friends is the grandson of someone who survived the Osage massacre. Killers of the Flower Moon (movie) paid him as a consult. It’s crazy how few folks knew about this before the movie and book. (Salisbury Steak)

Tatianna Garcia

Listening to this after Dick Cheney has also died!!!!
