Quack Month continues and this time Mrs. P covers a modern medical quack, Barbara O'neill. Mrs. O'Neill pretends to be a medical specialist while spreading alternative medical advice that is so bad that she was shut down by the Australian government. But don't worry, she has moved to America where she says whatever she wants with enough caveats and "some are sayings" that allegedly she is not committing any crimes.

Barbara O'Neill's cures for all things including terminal illness is baking soda and prayer! We wish we were joking.

The relatability of being taught fractions in a Catholic school 😂 We got the “if you are missing 10% of your clothing that’s like a sock, no big deal. But if you’re missing 25% you could be missing your jumper! Or 50% might be your shorts and your jumper!” I, too, relearned math when I went into teaching to have better tools.

As an autistic person with an autistic husband that found this out after our first born was diagnosed with autism in our late thirties, thank you. Our second born didn’t skip that part of the genetic buffet. But, we are all pretty great. Deffo better than dying.

I can’t. So like, imma have to jump in real quick about the antibiotics thing. The baby is completely separate from the mom’s digestive tract, and in no way does that bacteria come into contact with the baby in utero. And in fact, babies are born without a gut micro biome. They only get their start with that when they come out of the birth canal, and when they start eating. That’s why the vitamin K shot for newborns is so important. Vitamin K is a blood clotting factor that is produced by bacteria in your gut. Babies don’t have that, so they lack vitamin K. The shot prevents Vitamin K deficiency bleeding, and keeps your baby from bleeding out. Also breast milk doesn’t offer sufficient vitamin K to help with clotting. They need that extra boost.

Hi so again, catching up. My dad is really into Barbara O’Neill. I’m coincidentally in neonatal sepsis research and work with GBS, which is the most common cause of sepsis and millions of babies die from sepsis annually worldwide. E. coli is the most common fatal cause of neonatal sepsis. Anyway, many deaths occur in Africa and underprivileged areas who likely don’t have access to abx and definitely not screenings.
