To turn what they say to us back on them, "go nazi, go broke." Doesn't really rhyme tho.

JJ Goodbrand

I'm nostalgic for when movies were actually affordable

Caitlanabanana

I'm nostalgic for a functioning economy. JK, it's 4Loko.

amanaybeak

I'm nostalgic for listening to a CD player while riding my bike and using pocket change at the polish delis for candy. (Specifically it was a Credit cd, but we're not going to address that that, I was ins seventh grade. )

Hi 👋🏻 my job transfered me to SLC 2yrs ago and I have info. 1. Utah is gorgeous, please come here. 2. They all drink diet coke and diet dr pepper. As a coffee girl, it's been rough (if you guys come here I'll be happy to drop my coffee shop recs). 3. You don't need a sponsor to drink alcohol, but, everything is a measured pour. Beer is sold in grocery stores but wine and liquor have to be purchased from a state owned liquor store.. 4. Medicinal Marijuana is legal but the medical card is ~$200 to have access to it. 5. SL County has a ton of normal people but the Mormons are truly in control of everything. I truly did not just how bad it was until I moved here. Some of those who leave the church have the social awkwardness of a homeschool kid who has never seen the world outside of their small bubble.

Maxi Millions

Utah is beautiful and yes the government is full of MAGA morons but the underground subculture is pretty lit. A lot of super religious spots out west are like that. Same with Colorado Springs. Huge underground culture - but known for being home to a mega church.

TooPoorToBeATomSeguraFan

Alex should get a Mark Twain award for "Vestigial Airport Shoe Shine Station" short but elegant

Sarah Beth Timmons

Hi!!! I live in slc. I moved to utah in 2005. I can safely say that the club laws don’t exist but! My then bf now husband, did hit on me by buying me a temp membership to the only liquor bar in town. Hot 🔥🔥 I know. But then we got the Zion curtain which has since died but it meant that no liquor drinks could be made in view of the drinkers. Because GASP! A child might see and be tempted to drink it. It just led to lots of people getting their drinks spiked. Now it’s still measured pours, and draft beers can’t be higher than 4% but it’s been such an improvement. But! I also think that our world losing color is very much giving “the giver” vibes. You know what I’m sayin?

Chekhovs_Gunnilingus

I think mormons don’t believe that Jesus died in the Americas. They believe Jesus died in the middle east, did his resurrection party trick like “Ta-da!” and then said “Ok, y’all, I’m gonna go visit other peeps.” Then he fucked off and went to vacation in the Americas. Showed up like, “TF you doing over here? Chopping people’s heads off at the top of some pyramid? That ain’t cool.” …something like that.

Janinemania500

Hey! I live in Kearns! Nice to see fellow people in Utah up in here. 🫶🏻

Vibin’ in the mind palace

We’ve got a clutch of Utah peeps here! 🎉 I’m in SLC and moved here from CO in 2007

Vibin’ in the mind palace

I’m nostalgic for OK soda. Not specifically for the soda itself, but the cans used to have a free phone number you could call and it would say the most random things (1-800-I-FEEL-OK). Junior-high age me thought this was the greatest thing ever and called often 😉. In a time like now when things are *very much not ok* , I miss that phone line.

Kari McCormick

I'm nostalgic for $ .39 Taco Bell tacos and $.29 donuts. When I was a kid, I could have one helluva day with just $1.

Sarah Beth Timmons

Niiiice! I’m in sugar house! SLC is great it’s just every other part of Utah. But honestly, I’m fine with less tourists coming here and clogging up the joint

Sarah Beth Timmons

My mom told me Mormons believe Jesus parachuted into South America and then vanished back into the sky. God bless her.

Nixie

I’m nostalgic for Neopets

Ash

Honestly, I’d love any content yall produce. Would you be interested in doing the “topic” form of content maybe once a month? I learn all sorts of interesting things from you guys. And I love your topic deep dives. Just a thought. Love yall, either way.

Exhausted_Millenial

The amtrak part resonated with me so much. I would take amtrak from Syracuse ny to nyc all the time. The ride would be about 6hrs. A plane would take the trip in less than 45min, but I'd have to get there early, check bags, security, and then after I'd land it would be an hour trip on the subway with a transfer to get to my destination

Chekhovs_Gunnilingus

That sounds accurate, I believe your mom. It’s canon now, that’s what Mormons believe.

Haywood Jablomie

My childhood best friend’s last name was Cox. I was 14 when I figured out WHY adults thought it was funny. I thought they were all just amused by Cox cable.

Fairy_podmother

I love having more of you guys commenting on current events. Will you still be doing some episodes with the deep dive topics? I’m sure that’s a lot more time consuming but I always learned so much about things I didn’t even realize I wanted to know. I’m also the girlie who likes the longer episodes. I know that’s not for everyone but I’m stoked when I see the time is 1 1/2 hours or more.

BugTheLady_Alissa

I'm enjoying the new style, keep up the good work, and I'm glad to hear that Mr 3rd is doing a good job! i’m afraid I might be too young for nostalgia, but in early Minecraft pocket edition you couldn’t go to the nether, but you could build a structure that would spawn in a fortress where you would fight zombie piglins.

Lovexash

Don’t downplay the impact of state house and Senate. Arguably state, county and city government has more of an impact on an individual than your federal representatives votes. All of the things you listed as planning for Sundance are controlled by your state and local government.

Mary Emma G.

I’m nostalgic for high school schedule structure. No job, had a car and gas money, spent all my free time with my friends.

The_Wyverary

I'm having a very hard time with the new style... I liked the deep dives better 😭

Nikki Ann

I was drinking at “fuckin broken throat demon” and yall owe me a new keyboard. 🤣

Case Ravel

I worked at Auntie Anne’s and I’m also nostalgic for the mall

GatorGirl

I’m nostalgic for CD-ROM games

Lightly Mothered

I loved this episode, when trump was elected I was looking at your socials a lot bc I really wanted your perspective and commentary so I’m really glad you guys are talking more current events! I also miss the deep lore on Burt’s bees and Dr. bronners soap. Love both types of content from you, hopefully there will be more of both? *elbow nudges*

Arlo the Average

Nostalgic for those zip up CD cases that would hold your whole music library

m

Nostalgic for those penny CDs you could order from the insert in the Sunday paper, where it would subscribe you to get more CDs, which you were supposed to pay for, but I don't know anyone who ever did, and they just kept sending CDs.... 🤣

Lauren Jane

I am nostalgic for cars with keys. Boxy, non-aero dynamic cars. Like a 1990 white Mercury Grand Marquis. With a blue velvet interior. And little ashtrays in the back seat doors. 🥹 That was my first car. Using the CD to cassette aux to listen to my Alanis Morrisette album. Fuck Bluetooth.

MrsP_let_MrP_bring_the_board_back_please

I need to have these types of episodes, it’s therapeutic to listen to someone scream about how the world is going right now, I also love the deep dives, but I love the warm ups for the just talking and definitely wanted longer ones for my 45-60 minute drives, so I love these types of episodes

Sarah Beth Timmons

It’s such a glorious mental image. I like to imagine I’m Jesus, looking down at my sandaled feet, floating down to earth

Allegedly a Mrs P fan

I’m probably in the minority but the new format bothers me. The long loud rants are fun in short form TikTok but I get anxiety if I’m listening while at work or driving. I joined the Patreon for the deep dives. I’m sticking around for ad free book clubs for now. But I’d like to know that deep dives will be in the mix occasionally

AgentZarkov_2133

Nostalgic for the mall too. The site of our old mall is now a super Walmart and it makes me so fucking sad.

Lora Dailey

Nostalgic for the neighborhood pool

Witch Of The Waste

My grandparents and I took the train everywhere and I loved it! I wish Amtrak was on time more but still love the train. Nostalgia for trains and grandparents ❤️

✨Ariel✨from✨Footloose✨

Nostalgic for Polly pockets that actually fit in your pocket and littlest pet shop toys that were so little they were a legit choking hazard

Cat mafia leader

Easter is fast approaching, so I'm nostalgic for when Cadbury Easter Cream Eggs used to be much larger and much cheaper than they are now. Stupid shrinkflation. 😕

Elizabeth Staples

My first car a late 80’s Oldsmobile cutlass with navy blue velvet interior nods in agreement. The single cup holder was the only thing wrong with that car.

victrona

My porch goose is Beatrise! but Gooch the Goose probs works best for y'all ;)

Elizabeth Staples

This! People often believe they live in “safe blue state” and don’t realize the split of their state chamber or the influence Republican Reps are having. Even California NY and Oregon have powerful state Republican parties that make moves ignoring them is kinda how things got where we are now.

jessimightpanic

Nostalgic for those plastic chain-link charm necklaces in the late 80s - early 90s

PeanutButterNRJam

Agreed, I was inspired to horde a few bags of the Robin Eggs and Crunchy Cadbury Eggs. Mr. Pearlmania has inspired me to go full gremlin!

becker

I miss Borders. The mall and Borders made the best weekends

becker

Also, a good episode might be to do research into Foxcon in WI... With all these tarrifs and buying American propaganda happening

April Merritts

I wasn’t sure what exactly I was nostalgic for until you said malls. I am so nostalgic for a mall. It was a great third space. You didn’t have to spend money there (even though that was technically the point). You could just hang out and window shop.

WintrStonr

I would love to see Mr P do an episode about the shock jock/jerry springer culture and how like…. That was the beginning of the fall. Yall have done a bunch of topics that kind of dance around that topic, but actually getting deep into it would be really interesting

WintrStonr

Oh this is an incredible idea

Anne N

Mormonism is based on Christian fan-fic

Anne N

Also I’m nostalgic for land lines

MillennialCatMom

Idk why listening to Mr. P scream about all the nonsense makes me feel better.

Bubbsiedaisies

I'm nostalgic for the colorful stores and decor, it felt so authentic instead of so corporate bland haha

Matthew Bereta

Me acting like a giddy fanboy because I listen to your podcast whenever I take my Dalmatian for long walks

Short_Range_Attack_Chicken

I’m nostalgic for My MTV! Not the lame at the end of its life with reality shows but when they used to play music videos, VJ’s Totally Pauly and Down Town Julie Brown!! 🥺

Neckpubes

I'm nostalgic for flash sites. Especially Homestarrunner.com. I'm also nostalgic for video games being contained entirely on a single piece of media that I owned and it was already completed when I bought it and it didn't need patches regularly and I didn't need an internet connection to play it.

Outside Bird Lady

I’m nostalgic for living with my close friends so we could share all our business and do silly bits 🧡✨

Megs and all the bacon you have

I’m in the same boat, I love the deep dives on random topics. I didn’t mind the longer rants in the warmup but if the whole podcast is just politics I probably won’t stick around :/

Isthisthingon

I'm nostalgic for cruising in my car with my friends listening to a burnt CD. Also, Banff is a beautiful place but Jasper Alberta is better.

Jessipoot

I’m nostalgic for those purses with the huge sequins, and CDs & CD players. Just sitting there reading the booklet in the jewel case while I listened to the whole thing. I’m also nostalgic for when the Jonas brothers weren’t possibly MAGA. 😭 and when they loved their job.

Jessipoot

He’s yelling all the stuff I want to yell but don’t know how

Jessipoot

The LOL cow episode was pretty much that.

Jessipoot

I kind of get startled and off track when the convo cuts off and cuts to somewhere else with the guitar. I loved listening to the both of you lose track of the convo until you spun into a new topic. Probably because that’s also how my brain works

CheeseDizMilk

California raisin lol my nostalgic was literally being able to lay on the grass and just take in the sun for a couple of hours before planning a long work week

Cheeks McGee

The carnies line got me 🤣 Shout out to the carnies but damn we can see y'all a mile away

Emidooodle

I miss school breaks. Instead of taking medical leave my company let me work 2 days a week for a summer a few years ago it was glorious. Someday I wish my chronic pain would come back just so I could do that again.
