Hey everyone,

Just pushed out a new Foundry module I've been chipping away at for a while.

Stylish Login Screen swaps out Foundry's default join page for a proper custom made one. Instead of the usual dropdown, players can see a layout made by their GM with their character portraits!

What it does

Three layout modes:

- Grid — pick columns and rows, drop a player into each cell. Simplest option, looks clean.

- Custom — draw your own dividing lines by clicking and dragging inside cells. Diagonal cuts work, lines snap to edges, and you can carve the screen into whatever shape fits your party. You can make some pretty cool screens with it.

- Background — use a single piece of art/Video and place invisible click zones over characters already in the image. If you've got a party portrait or a tavern scene with everyone in it, this one's for you.

Features include:

Per-portrait controls for position, zoom, and framing, plus name styling (fonts, colors, glow, background box or custom background image, placement anywhere in the cell).

Line styles: Solid, Double, Neon, and four hand-drawn Brush variants — including crossed versions where the strokes extend past the frame like real ink. Hover glow is configurable globally or per-player so each player feels unique

Live preview in the config panel updates as you tweak, and there's a Save & Preview button that opens the real login page in a new window so you can sanity-check before your players see it.

Big Updates with their patch notes are HERE, HERE

On security

Quick note since it's a fair thing to wonder about: installing this module doesn't lower your security or open any new doors for attackers.

The module is purely visual. It draws a nicer-looking page around Foundry's normal login, but the actual logging-in part is still handled entirely by Foundry itself, exactly the same way it always has been. Nothing new is exposed to the internet. It's the same front door with a better-looking frame around it.

On a different note, read up on protecting your foundry server! The reddit has some posts about how to make sure you're secure!

Compatibility

Foundry VTT v13/14 — System Agnostic!

Note: This only works on browsers, the login screen in the foundry app can't be changed like this. So a GM who prefers to run Foundry on chrome for example can login with the stylish page, but someone like me who prefers the foundry application can't, nevertheless the players will obviously login on a browser, I think that is the main goal for the people who use this, to show it to their players!

The module doesn't work on the Forge because it restricts login page customization, it won't allow a login page override

Using a hosting service (MoltenHosting, etc.) or a custom domain? Read this

If your login URLs send people to your host's startup page instead of the login screen, the module is auto-detecting the wrong address. You need to tell it your real one:

Go to Game Settings > Configure Settings > Stylish Login Screen

Find the "Custom base URL" field

Type the address you normally use to reach Foundry in your browser, for example: https://yourserver.moltenhosting.com

Important: only the server address itself. Nothing after the .com, no /game or /join at the end

Click the save icon next to the field

The login URLs below will update automatically. Send those new links to your players.

Share!

If you build something cool with it, I'd love to see screenshots — drop them in the comments or on Discord. Bug reports welcome too, obviously.

Thanks as always for the support. It genuinely makes this kind of thing possible.

Here is an example of an amazing login screen created by a member of the community!

How to Install/Use

Manual installation is straightforward:

Download and extract the zip file attached to this post ( download zip if you have windows, tar.gz is for Linux)

If Updating, delete the old module folder entirely, if not updating skip this step

Place the extracted folder into the data/modules/ inside your Foundry user data directory

If Foundry is already running, restart it so it recognizes the new module

Enable the module in your world under Manage Modules

Configure your new login page in your module settings page and save it.

Send your players the new invitation link that you can find in the module settings

Enjoy!

Good day! Does this have .webm support for background options? I have some backgrounds that would be very great to use if that’s possible!

The Final Artificer

That is a great idea, I don't know how I missed it! I'll work on this soon as I can! I don't think it will be hard (Edit: Added)

Nikolai

I really like it! Some things I am missing: - the login page does not have a favicon, ideally it should have the foundry favicon - the login page does not indicate which user is already logged in and silently fails if trying to log in as a user that is already logged in

Nikolai

The module does not seem to work correctly with multiple worlds. I created a login screen for my world 1, then for my world 2, however when world 1 is active, the login screen for world 2 is still shown.

The Final Artificer

Hi Nikolaj, I'll update this as soon as I can! I've written this down (Edit: Updated)

TheMrBeasley

Do you have a Github repo for this project, and if so would you be open to contributions from the community?

The Final Artificer

Hi Jordan, I'll think about it, I'll have to look into linking my github to the patreon, I'm still quite new to Patreon. I'll update you once that happens. Perhaps I'll add a collaborators Discord channel if some people are interested

The Final Artificer

Nikolai, in case you missed the update because I believe you don't get news about new posts, the module has been updated with all your input taken into account!

jordan gmaler

Ability to edit imported templates would be great.

The Final Artificer

Hi Jordan, I'll write it down for the next update! Thank you for the feedback!

Nikolai

Love the updates! One last gap I've found: When the correct world for the login screen is not active, the login screen does not indicate this. All logins simply fail.

The Final Artificer

Unfortunately not yet, I've been talking to the Foundry team regarding the Patreon integration. There is nothing I can do on my end anymore, the foundry team themselves have to allow this/give us an access point to use the module.

Alec Murphy

Just subbed, if your modules work as advertised you'll be right upper there with Ripper93! That said, this module doesn't seem to be imbedded in Foundry's Module installation menu. I couldn't find it, even when I searched your name.

The Final Artificer

Hi, thank you very much for he kind words! not all modules are available for installation through foundry yet, some have to be downloaded manually like this module here. But I'm uploading them slowly one by one, so in a month or so all will be available through Foundry! You can see which ones are officially on Foundry in the module hub post

Alec Murphy

Hey, I don't know where it would be best to submit bug reports, but with the most recent update to Foundry, this module no longer works. It prompts my players for a password (despite them not having one) and when they submit it blank, it wont let them in. I even added passwords, and it wouldn't let them log in. But when I had them use the regular login screen they could sign in just fine.

The Final Artificer

This was fixed a long long time ago! You just haven't updated the module yet, just follow the instructions to update the module!

Alec Murphy

Oh! My bad. I must have missed the notice that it had been updated. Sorry
