THIS IS NOT AN AD, WE ARE NOT BEING PAID TO REVIEW THESE!

We got the stamping plates Brent and Casey showed off on our army painting crossover episodes. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch this: https://youtu.be/dcm2yFrtPLU

I've been given full permission to do a deep dive unbiased review and show off everything I can.

We're planning to do a full episode talking about them in depth and the tech in general, but I wanted to get these pictures of the plates out there first. It seems most people who are interested don't even know what the final plates look like. Here's all 10, Heraldry 001 and Squad Markings 001 are in the Starter Set, the other eight plates are sold individually. I don't know if the first two are also sold individually, I assume so though.

I also threw in a picture of the back of a plate and the packaging they come in. (Also enjoy a ton of pictures of Eric's hand, these things are super reflective.)

I have been told some tentative prices, but won't share them as they seemed uncertain if those will be the final prices. I can say the prices they told us seemed fair when looking at similar products sold by nail polish companies. Yes, those will also be part of our in depth review episode too.

If you have questions feel free to ask them in the comments here, even if I don't have the answer I can go ask Brent or Casey so I can get the info into our episode in a few weeks.

ETA for the review is early April, we need to wait on some other materials to arrive to do tests with and record some video footage for b-roll during the episode.

So excited to get my hands on a set too! I was getting ready to do transfers on my 1k Sons army, but I'm going to hold out for these.

Genuinely so excited for these! I have always had issues freehanding stuff on minis because of some real bad tremors and since i saw it in the videos i was sooooo happy and ready to spend money lol

Pylohn

I am so mad excited for these and will definitely be buying as soon as they are available. The ability make what I've been doing free hand repeatable is going to feel so good

Pylohn

Anyone know what that QR code Leeds too?

SolelySingleton

It leads to a magical video, one that could never give you up or let you down.

Ktulu

That looks very interesting for me, but unfortunatelly I already know it will be a shit ton of cash to ship this to poland, so unless some shop will get those to sell I will miss it..

Son of Hastur

My only question is the kind of paint the plates are looking for, can you use any acrylic or do they require something specific? Can't wait to try them out.

Lorel Collins

The Ebay rescues video already sold me but damn some of these plates have great decals. I’m on board.

Son of Hastur

I looked in to it, looks like they use special inks, and the starter box comes with black and white inks. Can't wait to see how these work for real. I'm especially wondering about getting the designs into smaller areas like cataphractii terminator shoulders. I can already see how to get my special snowflake space marine chapter symbol going with these. Now that they've acknowledged my uniqueness I'm looking forward to the review!

Ian White

I'll be happy to come over and let you test them on my salamanders by stamping them ;)

Ian White

An actual question though is that I see the Nurgle looking stamp is very clean around the circles. How hard is it to combine some of those stamps to make trademarked images like the Death Guard ones.

SolelySingleton

You need opaque stamping nail polish, the "special inks" in the starter set are just some stamping nail polish in different colors. It's going to be a big part of what we're testing with random nail polishes.

Son of Hastur

Perfect. It'll be interesting to see how the other polishes work.

JimElone

OMG, Eric-senpai hands!!

Exciting stuff. I'm really surprised how cheap these plates are from nail companies. Looks like one can get a one-off custom plate from aliexpress for $30, fwiw. I'd bet many local makerspaces could help you make one too.

Also, I will absolutely buy a full set from goblin hobbies when they launch, even if it's a bit pricier. Gotta support our fellow hobby folks!

I agree, and want to know if there is other kinds of paint or mediums you can use with it, and it just works best with what they sell. Like would nail polish work? Normal acrylics? Inks? Oils? What is the longevity of the stamp? How quickly does it get dirty? How easy is it to clean? How do you clean it? Will they sell different sizes of stampers? Maybe I want a big fuck-off one for a knight, or a tiny one to apply text and markings to heraldry shields and purity seals.

Varchild

I am mildly annoyed that they don't have all of the squad markings I need for Dark Angels but I will absolutely still buy these

CeeJai

Is there any indication of whether or not there will be a way to make our own custom stamps, say for a custom chapter or warband marking? I'm very excited for these and will be buying them either way, but that would be the absolute icing on the cake.

Old Man Jacan

These look amazing and I would love to pick these up when they drop because I love the idea of transfer sheets but absolutely despise applying them. Are they planning to sell all the sheets with the stamp as a package or are they thinking they may do smaller themed packs (Orks only, chaos pack, imperials etc) or even just selling individual sheets?

finestaut

These look a lot like nail stamps, which means the plates need to be laser engraved. A laser engraver will set you back about a thousand bucks US, or you can find shops on Etsy/AliExpress that'll do a custom plate for about thirty dollars US If you provide the images.

Thomas J Gamble

exactly… DA transfers are ruining my life (they aren’t, but they’re annoying)

Xmas Mike

I've had difficulty using nail plate designs. Are these easier to pick up the paint from? Is the stamper offered smaller in diameter than those used for nails? Will there be a plate bundle? How are the included instructions, if any? What does long term usage and/or storage look like? Can I borrow one of the plates you got :)? How well do they look when attempting to cover up a misapplied stamp?
