Space Marines were built first and foremost to annihilate non compliant humans, not any of this other shit, so I think having a face on a helmet that looks explicitly angry, while yes, being incredibly stupid, would also be a lot more intimidating to some backwater world of miscreants that are seeing these giants walk around and offer them a gun or a sandwich and telling them to choose

Having as many models as they do, i shouldn't be able to say that the space marine range has any holes in it. But as a white scars player, WHY DO I NOT HAVE A CAPTAIN ON BIKE!!! That is (to me) an obvious hole that could have been filled. There were a ton of cool things they could have done with the charecters, like, they could have just used the same librarian sculpt but given it a cool name and had an equivalent to what the judiciar is the chaplains. I'm disappointed at how bland these reveals were, when it was literally so easy in both the brainstorming and execution phases to make something cool.

For the Vanguard Vets remember as well how much of a big deal they made out of the Armageddon campaign badge on the models. The Vanguard Vets have that campaign badge. Meaning that one of the unique identifiers to make them stand out as Vanguard Vets is actually just the campaign badge that everyone gets. One of their limited 'one unique thing' is actually a generic thing.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found it absolutely insane that 4 out of the 8 new Space Marine units are just remakes of existing kits that are less than a decade old. When Calgar got a new model everyone goes insane, but when GW does the same thing 4 more times, it's meant to be a good thing?? This isn't even mentioning how uninspiring the other half of the Space Marine units are.

not to be a boomer but if you want a managable space marine roster (like existed when i was a lad) you kinda have to come to terms with the SM half of the starter set being dull as hell.

I've been watching your videos as an introduction to the hobby since December 2024. Been nervous to dive in but if I had to pick two factions it would be SM (cry brad) or Orks. Should I pull the trigger and dive in now with this box?

Do you have people to play the game with? Is there a local game store nearby? Do you have friends or family interested? If so, I’d say go for it! Maybe split the box with someone to just focus on 1 army if you would like, but overall, I think it’ll be a good idea! Just DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES buy the 10th edition Ork and Space Marines codexes because they will become obsolete almost immediately.
