Hi!
Here's the SFW audio/video for the month, a behind the scenes writing audio, taken from a few sessions of writing this audio that came out today. I cut out a lot of thinking, but we still only get to about the 10 minute mark of the actual audio, before all the NSFW stuff starts.

You'll notice that I changed stuff even from recording this to the final audio, but hopefully this gives an interesting look at my writing process, which people have been asking about.

Enjoy!

Helping friend's roommate's nightmares, blackout, lawyer, etc. It's like that quote "there is enough music for time but not enough time for music."

phonons

Aww the audible nerves at the beginning were kind of adorable, but you got more comfortable as the video progressed 🫶🏽 It was cool to see how you came up with dialogue while still keeping in mind how the lines would be delivered or the types of SFXs that would be involved. Thank you for sharing!

I know you said they might never see the light of day but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that lipstick, monk/cleric, blackout and meeting the crew peaked my interest 👀🙄🥸

AUGUST ahhh I have SO MUCH to respond to! 🫣❤️ I hope you’ll forgive me for how long this comment is about to be… I’m just so over the moon bc this is literally my DREAM SFW. It’s now tied with the audio process one as my fave SFW. I am obsessed with any kind of window into artistic processes!!! Like, I miss the pre-streaming days when we purchased movies as physical media on DVDs solely bc the “Bonus Features” would often have a director’s commentary and/or BTS. It was genuinely a treat to be privy to the gears working in your brain as you write an audio. I could have watched hours of this tbh and am feeling so jazzed by this meaty chunk you gave us! Gonna bullet my thoughts: • I was surprised by how surreal it felt to see some script text of “the hits”. I actually screamed when I saw the script for “Spank Therapy” (one of my faves) scroll into view! 🤩
 • The 19th C Russian literature dawg in me is delighted that the duel stayed the foundation of the stakes for the audio (ignoring that in RuLit they primarily used pistols bc swords are way cooler and sexier imo and a duel is still a duel!!!) ⚔️🤺
 • I was previously unfamiliar with the Pixar concept of not going with your 1st (2nd, 3rd, etc.) idea, BUT in hearing you share it, I thought about how the Beat poet, Allen Ginsberg, has a writing strategy attributed to him that is kind of the antithesis of that: “First thought, best thought”. 💡⚡️The takeaway for me is that the labor of writing is often ultimately playing little mind games with yourself to overcome any “blocks” in idea generation. The “rules” for the games that work best for each of us just may look different? I think I tend to use the Ginsberg strategy to eventually get to the Pixar place? haha like I find committing to anything on the page, even the first “bad” idea, opens the floodgates for the “better” ones to follow. I am such a chronic self-editor though because I love refining/revision, so oftentimes I need to follow a first idea just to get anything done! • I found it so fascinating to hear how you do line reads and consider the “performance” of the SFX as you write! That felt like such a specific insight to the AITW process and how you approach the title of “Creator”. It demonstrated that for you, all the different roles that you have to flex as a VA are pretty fluid and not delineated into, like, “I have my Writer August hat on right now. Time to swap it for Voice Actor August/Sound Designer August/Director August.” Not to gas you up all the damn time (even though you deserve it fr!!), buuuut I think your natural propensity to occupy and apply all those creative perspectives throughout your production of an audio is a huge factor in why your shit is so good consistently - just saying!!! • Finally (I know lol), this may be better suited for your next AMA, but I’m still going to ask because it’s relevant to the topic and I don’t wanna forget it. You touched on this a bit when you mentioned how class play comments on the Tailor audio inspired your second iteration of this audio concept, but I want to ask more specifically: what does your relationship with comments/feedback in your writing process look like? I’m thinking particularly about those comments where we’re like, “More X, please!” and/or “I’d love to see X!”. Do you “track” those requests in any way (even just mentally) and put them in scripts when the time is “right”? Or is it more fluid than that?

Based on the Tailor audio thing (plus you opening suggestion threads in the past, and most recently, incorporating @Thelnie’s drive-in idea for the September EA), I assume that you are keen to engage with Patrons’ input on story/script to a certain extent? That said, I also think you’re in a unique situation by having access to a near constant stream of requests and opinions re: your work WHILE you’re in the process of scripting the next piece. When I try to imagine those conditions for my own writing process / how I’d feel, on one hand it sounds energizing (bc isn’t an invested audience what every writer wants to some degree?), but on the other it could be maddeningly overwhelming?

TL;DR how do you manage our enthusiastic input (and ✨overactive imaginations✨🤪) with your ultimate vision/agency/goals for your scripts? Okayyyy I will wrap it up! Thank you so much for indulging us with this even though I am sure it created way more work for you to balance the concurrent creation of 2 pieces of content. I thoroughly enjoyed this and will be revisiting it when I need a boost for my own projects! Thanks August! 💌🩵

rachel 🍓

OOOOH SORRY ONE MORE THING: I personally think a writing stream would be SO fun - BUT I also think your trepidation is super valid too. One suggestion is to do it for something lower key than one of your “scheduled” pieces of content (i.e. early access or exclusive)… like maybe as bonus content to celebrate a milestone (you’re getting close to 3k paid members!)? You could do it to create a mini “bonus” audio (like 15 minutes or less)? An additional idea is to give us specific parameters as we collaborate on the stream, like you give us a few options and we riff off them? And/or you have us vote on different tropes/tags/story beats in like a real time poll? I’m imagining you have us start by live voting on a very general dynamic (rough, soft, switch), then you could poll us on the pairing dynamic (F2L, S2L, E2L, etc.), then setting, etc.? I’m envisioning a “moans x August Build An Audio” almost like Mad Libs? haha I think it could be a blast and just silly? Might take some of the pressure off. Hopefully some food for thought! Ultimately though, I deeply respect your preciousness re: your writing, so obviously, would not want you to do this if you felt like it compromised your creative integrity in any way!

twillow43

Truly thank you so much for the vulnerability you were willing to show by recording your process! Seeing what’s behind the curtain is so cool and just goes to show how much work goes in to what you do. I hope you keep honing this craft of yours. Ps. Also hope you’re able to get some relief from the back pain — that sounds pretty miserable; I’m sorry.

twillow43
>>150726753

As an ex high school English Composition teacher, I really enjoyed being on the audience side of this “think-aloud.” Such a gift to see the inner workings of someone else’s imagination! The brainstorming work you do before ever composing dialogue is so important (I think so anyway—even if it ends up changing a bunch of times like you said).

TRULY SPOILED THIS FRIDAY EVE 😭💕💕💕💕

twillow43
>>150726753

“You want me to-what…?” Such an August thing to say, agreed! Love how distinct your voice is even in the early stages.

twillow43
>>150726753

Lmao @ the efficiency of the exposition for the true purpose of the audio 😅 Genre audios do give you more room for cute lines though, I agree!!

twillow43
>>150726753

Do you find that your writing process starts and stops around the same segments with each audio you create? Like, will you write the exposition all in one go and then the sexy stuff in another go later? And will your recording process usually always happen concurrently with the writing?

a muppet christmas ky-rol 🌟🎄🎁

HELLO??? 😭 i'm so excited to listen to this! truly nobody is doing it like you that's why we're so rabid to get a peek at ur brain. yay 😀

twillow43
>>150726753

Last question, I swear: should we assume that the sexytime writing happens in a similar vein as what’s in the video? Or are you intentionally withholding how the magic happens? 🧐

kornonthycob

i’m being so fr i wanted to watch this bc i am so interested in your process but your voice to good i fell asleep to it 😞👍🏽

hc

Okayyy I just got home from a girls night out so I will probably fall asleep soon and have to listen to this when I am sober again BUT the back pain spiel omg RELATABLE. Literally had to interview someone (a potential direct report lmao) earlier today and felt so uncomfy because I kept shifting in my desk chair because the back pain is so real at my big age of 30😭 anyway I'm excited to listen to this with an actual clear mind but that may take a bit of time brb good night August and horny audibook club 😘

sarah 💫

This was SO cool, tysm for sharing your ✨process!✨ A crowd-sourced scriptwriting stream would be sooch a blast, altho I can definitely see the chat going in 63 different directions as you sit there waiting for suggestions 😅 if you’re ever up to sharing older scripts and walking us through the thought process behind certain scenes/lines/world building elements (esp for genre audios!) I think that would be super fun. As a Huge writing nerd, I was fully enraptured through this entire vidjya 🤓📝 One thing I noticed was the clear sense of motive/“heart” your characters have from the jump which stays constant throughout and makes the story easy to follow. There’s a lot of discourse re: plot driven stories vs character driven stories (I’m a character gal meself) and I think your character-forward approach suits the audio medium really well. Also loved hearing your “dry” reads of the lines as you wrote them! Sometimes I’ll notice certain lines I write look good on paper but sound weird or clunky to the ear and I think speaking them out loud really helps gauge the flow/naturalness of dialogue and usually helps propel the other character’s lines too. I was wondering, do you ever time your script mid-writing? As in, to get a gist of the audio timeline, do you ever do a dry run of an unfinished script, maybe the beginning bits, to gauge how long it is? Or have you written enough scripts atp that you can ballpark how much “air time” 20 lines of dialogue will take? I think pacing is one of your strong suits and I wonder how much intention/preparation goes into that. ALSO that point about spoon-feeding the audience what listener “said” by reiterating their “lines” (ie “You wanna know if I’m ___? Yes, I’m ____”) 🥴 that’s something I’ve noticed lots of other VAs do, a little bit here and there is fine but I really appreciate how you prioritize showing vs telling 🙌🏼 Thanks so much for letting us take a peek behind the curtain, this was super interesting and fun. Also hope your back feels better soon! ❤️‍🩹

> Oral Toy Depression U r so unintentionally funny!!!! Looking forward to finishing this. U r a gift 💝

sarah 💫
>>150726086

Omg hard agree on missing the “director’s commentary” featurette on old DVDs 🥺🥲 also SAMEEE when I saw the snippets of old scripts I literally squealed, it was so fricken surreal. It sorta felt like seeing a familiar room suddenly emptied out, devoid of furniture and knickknacks. It made me appreciate just how much extra OOMPH it takes to bring a script to ✨life✨

Moira

Okay I’m back after my very eventful night out lol, but anyways just wanted to say that I loved this sfw!! BTS of your writing is so cool, like the BTS of the spider man audio is one of my fav sfw pieces even though it’s through a technical/sound view. Ik you mentioned it at the end, but it would be cool to see a BTS script writing for a non-genre audio, given that these ones are very specific (i.e world building), which definitely makes them interesting, but idk, I would love a BTS script writing for a random audio, let’s say “weekly breeding lifestyle” 👀 or “teaching you to dirty talk” 👀. Totally random, not at all suggestions 😌

Dana

Man, this is going to be a Lo-ho-hoooong comment, I apologise in advance. First of all, is your back ok? Hope you’re not developing disc problems; these stuff happen over time; so take care! 😭 Secondly, I am so excited about this. A little sneak-peak into that insane head of yours that destroy us week-in, week-out 😮‍💨 You know EXACTLY what you did when you scrolled up, you fiend. “Weekly Breeding Lifestyle”? “Wedding audio”? You’re gonna expect a lot of feedback on that. God, I still can’t believe the duality of you; the kind of work you produce vs the awkwardness and giggling nature you possess! Can you not tear up my heart, thank you very much? When you were talking about jotting down the ideas before you start writing I’m like, yeah this is such a research approach with identifying the idea, the characters, the scenery, the flow, what works and what doesn’t. Top notch stuff. Streaming a script-writing with us would be SO AWESOME! Of course the final idea and script is all yours to alter but I would love to jump into throwing ideas in there 😂 REJECT THE IDEAS all you want, it would still be a fun experience with you. I absolutely love how much thought you put into the backstory, something that we may barely hear about in the audio, BUT may play a huge role in how YOU portray the speaker character, so even when you don’t speak of it, we WILL hear it in the frustration of speaker in the final delivery. The fact that the idea that came to you “yesterday” is the one that made it to the audio, talk about not going with the first, second, third idea, huh? 👏🏼 “Gazebo sex” is such a wedding idea! Keep that thought! KEEP THAT THOUGHT! I love how we just witnessed the beach sex idea pop into your head 😭😭 such a privilege istg. Saying the lines out loud is such a good way of seeing how they work out. Sometimes they sound good jotted down but then very awkward spoken. The sword-crossing, we HEARD that, yes! I love how giddy you are about sword fighting 😂 the “in the bind” part was definitely heard in the audio! 👏🏼 I mean, it makes sense that you “ad-lib” the listener character dialogue to work with, so while you don’t write it, it’s there. Can I just say, the last switch in tone between you (August, the writer) and the speaker character at 46:29 is just too good. I feel so excited hearing your brain at work! I appreciate that sometimes you repeat what listener character says; helps add to the experience in my humble opinion. “You want me to what?” Yeah I agree, obviously, that’s a very “you” line 😂👏🏼 I love the bluff F played where she got him at sword point. 👏🏼 so yes, glad to see that made it! I was gonna ask if you ever work on a script, then sleep on it for a later time to review with fresh eyes, then the video moved to you recording already and making changes so that answered my question. A bit of angst is good; the setup you established for it at the beginning calls for it, AGAIN, another plus to actually jotting down the backstory. The “do you yield?” played beautifully in the audio, btw! Throughout the entirety of it. A small line that has a HUGE impact. The fact that one hour 25 minutes of this amounted to only 5 minutes of the actual audio is mind baffling. The amount of work and dedication you put into this… you’re an absolute gem, and I appreciate you so much. That was so enjoyable! Thank you for being generous as to allow us this script-writing video 😭 TL;DR: getting a sneak-peak into your head feels like such a privilege, how things fit together like puzzle pieces, it’s incredible. I had so much respect for the amount of work you produce already but this just added a ton more respect. Seeing how much fun you have writing those scripts makes it feel that you are a real person 😂🫣 That’s why you’re the king of this game, August. Excellent work as always, keep it up and DO take care!

Gabriella 🥭

Mandatory laughter compliment: huge shoutout to the witch with whom you exchanged something deeply valuable for your beautiful voice for throwing in THEE most delightful giggle for free. 🙏🏿 This was so fun! It was very cool watching your first/second-ish draft process because there’s a lot happening: pre-planning for SFX, distilling ideas, finding the right words and cadence you want to use, different line deliveries, considering the pacing of the audio, etc etc all while offering us insights into the process we’re watching! Classic AITW layering. Regardless of what you are doing in the moment, you are keeping the finished product in mind and how the various components will impact the quality of that product. Like the SFX BTS, being unfamiliar with these processes, I was 😲 the whole time. I don’t think the background stuff is too much! Even if it doesn’t make it into the audio explicitly, I think the backstory came through in your delivery. He’s seeking vengeance and is angry at the bourgeoisie, he’s not *only* fearful of losing his family’s land. And for the L, their helping him could feel very Eat Pray Love, a story they tell their friends to demonstrate goodness. But with rich backstory, you avoid that trap nicely. “Can we get to the same place in less lines?”. Yes! Your economy of language is really impressive, it’s one of your biggest assets imo! Was it helpful talking out your ideas like this was a stream to get to idea #4, 5, etc? Or is this what your internal monologue is like anyway? Would I like a stream of you writing??? On some level yes, but I think it would also make me anxious? At least with a comment section, you can go through various ideas, requests, etc at your own pace, but I could understand a stream feeling like an open fire hydrant… Maybe if it were for a silly audio, like a throwaway? Maybe Harvey’s Day Out lmao Thanks for doing this, it was very insightful! I love an Inside Baseball situation so I’ll take whatever manifestations of that you’re willing to record. And I’m sorry your back and neck hurt, heavy is the head that wears the crown, king 😔. But truly, I hope you can find some pain relief!!! 💗

Nicole

You got me with family’s attorney and then… Apowers (Austin powers? 😂). Thanks for keeping us grounded, that would’ve been too good of a premise. BUT if this ever gets brought up in a poll again, I have ideas!

Gabriella 🥭
>>150716911

Truly why would you show it to me if I can’t have it 😭🗡️ I thought lipstick audio might be about a bullet vibe so maybe being discreet in a public place. I don’t know, I wish I hadn’t seen any of them!

秦词
>>150743291

I know I’m not the only one noticing the switch between writer August and performer August when he was just casually saying the lines out loud🫠. The talents this man possesses is INSANE😭. Like he’s not even fully performing it, and I can already hear the emotions for this speaker character😭.

Gabriella 🥭
>>150717149

Congrats from another therapist!! 🎊🎊🎊 A friend who’s now a PMHNP worked a crisis hotline for about two years, so I really and truly tip my hat to you.

Gabriella 🥭
>>150726086

Bonus features yes omg I miss those! I also love How It’s Made, I just like learning about processes! And I also felt a rush when I saw our boy “Spank Therapy” on the page! It was like seeing him at a small local venue having seen him do MSG. Nuts! That’s so interesting comparing the Pixar and Ginsburg ideas. This is also what I was hoping, that I would get to see the processes of the writers of the HBC. Maybe you would know this because you’re a writer, I’ve also heard the writing process compared to a suitcase and you have to shake it to find the important Idea? Writing it down, I realize now that sounds crazy, so maybe I made that up 😭 “Playing little games with yourself to get over any ‘blocks’ to idea generation” is just a great lens to use to understand life. There are very few things that are the final performance, you can have as many “rehearsals for living” as you like. Also, what an incredible question!!!

Gabriella 🥭
>>150726705

Yes! I was also thinking it might be fun for a silly, extremely low stakes audio. I looooove this Mad Libs idea.

rachel 🍓
>>150726086

@sarah 💫 omg yes to the empty room analogy! There was something to seeing how unassuming (?) the words on the page are when the final audios are so conspicuous? I’d add that at the same time it was a bit like seeing the AITW Rosetta Stone? haha like the ✨secrets✨ of the origins of my most treasured pieces of audio erotica live in this Google Doc!

rachel 🍓
>>150726086

@Gabriella 🥭 oooh I’m new to the suitcase concept, but it really resonates! 🧳 The notion of “shaking” for an idea especially! haha I’ve said it sometimes feels like my brain is a Magic 8 Ball when I’m stuck trying to figure out where to go and/or how to connect ideas, but I like the suitcase bc the implication is that I already “have” everything I “need” to realize something I’m writing, I just need to “find” it! ❣️

rachel 🍓
>>150733057

+1 on being eager to see a walkthrough of old scripts if August is up for that! I’d love to see a hybrid of your writing-oriented walkthrough suggestion (where he talks a bit about specific lines/world building) and his past idea from the audio process SFW where he mentioned maybe breaking down the SFX/sound design elements on older audios like he did with Spidey! Basically, any sort of “commentary” style content would be so awesome to see/hear! 🤝 I’m also a character-forward gal when it comes to the “approach” to stories that resonates most with me! 100% agree that August’s work nails this and it suits this format so well. Your question about pacing is something I’ve wondered too! I’ve never felt the build-up was too short/too long and that’s impressive to me when there is a real range of how far into an audio he gets before the NSFW stuff starts in earnest!

Gabriella 🥭
>>150726086

@rachel 🍓, you did it just there! You had everything you needed to connect my half ideas into a beautiful, functional metaphor! 💗

秦词

This is such wholesome and cutesy content☺️. It’s cute cuz writer August is, as expected, very talented. And seeing a concept evolving into a story is very wholesome. A few things I noticed: If you capitalise hand kink audio, you’ll have to do it, right???? (Plz, good people in the comments, back me up on this one) This is not very mindful when you were like look how much I wrote for spies. It’s been 10 years (not literal 10 years but). Where’s the sequel💀 Why is it so funny when he can’t say “sex” without giggling🤣 Also, is this the same man who fed us lines like I’m gonna use you like a property and he can’t say sex out loud🤣 It is very reassuring how you set up the background stories before you go into the actual scene. I do think it makes a difference when you lay out the foundation first. Sometimes when I listen to other nsfw audios (yeah I’m cheating on you with other male vas lol), I kinda feel like the characters were too generic to leave an impression. It’s not always a bad thing. I just have a soft spot for strong characters. I can’t speak for everyone, but I do enjoy a movie-like moment. I like the stray dog line. I’m also aware of the lines not being colloquial enough, but never with you, August. You could literally read Apple’s terms and conditions and a lot of us will be like omg that is so cute. Another personal preference is that I also like when characters mirroring other characters’ previous lines. That being said, do you yield, *screaming* This is just an intrusive thought, but have you thought about reading comments for a sfw audio? I know we have left some pretty nsfw comments, but there are still tons of innocent comments, you know👀

JammyJam

I haven’t even finished it yet but this whole video/audio is making me feel appreciative of the world. Thank you for making this globe a more tolerable place August, I’ll live for one more week.

YES rachel🍓 I will litchrally take any and all BTS snippets available plsss, I find the sausage making process (ahem) so entertaining and it truly adds so much more appreciation to the final product! If he broke down one script (maybe an earlier August audio like tutor or MANDO!!!!) complete with an SFX show and tell + a walkthrough of the script I would dieeeee (positive) 🧎🏻‍♀️

phonons
>>150733691

Ah! Can't believe I missed it. In all seriously tho, I feel like we keep getting teased with a hand kink audio but it never comes 😔 I respect the creative process and all but still 🤲🏽👀🫣

Idk if votes are being tallied but you both have mine 🗳️ I love this idea

YOU ARE IN MY BRAIN, SARAH 💫! I was about to say my first choice for a commentary would be Mando! 🤞🏼🥰

Saph

"There is such a thing as too much in an audio in many ways, and so I think restraint is a big part of writing audios" that's why your work is so effective, you know exactly what to emphasize in each audio's story

Ruby 🍉

Wow super interesting to see your creative process, shoutout to all the writers such an amazing talent to have 🫶🏻

sarah 💫
>>150733691

phonons it NEEDS to happen, sometimes I think about how the spanking audio reportedly sat in the idea void for YEARS before happening so never say never☝🏼 the hope for a hand kink audio is alive and burning bright!!!🕯️

A 🦕🩷

Haven’t gotten to this yet but it’s very much appreciated as excellent timing! I’m stuck at home being sick (missed work, missed an audition which was a self tape but I can’t speak, couldn’t get cough medicine at the store because I forgot my id and they think I’m fucking 16 years old, just overall going THROUGH it) and I need something to watch other than the ten million seasons of survivor I’ve been making my way through lmao

✨ jo ✨

august thank you for overcoming any nervousness and serving us w this 😤!!! totally get why it would have been so nerve-racking to record—it felt really intimate to listen to, almost like i was in your head 🤭 I don't wanna speak for ALL of horny bookclub but: I do think most of us subscribed bc 1) we r truly very horny and 2) your audios are in a league of their own... but now we're all staying for 3) your writing and world-building. it feels so special to be able to get a peek behind the curtains and follow along with your writing process!! 🥹🫶 i do think the "write with me" stream idea is cute n fun, but as a fellow particular writer i also agree that maybe three hours of saying "no I don't like that" would kill the vibe 🫠 maybe instead of writing an audio script together, the stream can be of one of those choose your own adventure games? that way you get the crowd-sourced element so it's low(er) stakes but still feels like we're building something together!! (i don't have a specific game or specific title in mind lol, but I swear i've played lots of em them as a kid so hopefully they're still out there! !!!)

nan nan 🎉🎆🥳🍾

Thank you so much for allowing us into your writing process! I am fascinated by how quickly you’re able to write, re-write, record SFX, and edit audios in a relatively short amount of time. AND come up with character back stories too! And I appreciate that you think about not having the Speaker just repeat what the Listener is saying - it’s what makes your Speaker character sound so natural. I must admit that sometimes it’s a little hard for me to follow along when I’m unsure what the Listener is saying and trying to pick up the context based on the Speaker’s lines but I try not to overthink it and go with the audio’s flow. I do hope you consider doing some kind of livestream. It doesn’t have to be for script-writing either. But audience participation in something would be fun, I think. Also, I’m sorry to hear about your back! Please please please get it checked out if you can. I hope it’s not serious and that you’re taking it easy. ❤️ take care

An aside when fellow writers think highly of AITW, you know for sure he's doing sth right Ia a choose your own adventure game is fun, creative, and interactive!

ALSO i hope your back feels better 🤕🤍 if it's lower back pain i find that this particular stretch really helps*: stand w legs shoulder-width apart, chest out, spine straight, then arms behind you w elbows locked and hands clasped, pushing down steadily + repeat reps!! *courtesy of my physio, i am not a medical professional (and don't even know what's going on w my body most of the time lol) SO please do this gently and at your own risk ⚠️

listened to the audio again after watching/listening to the behind the scenes, and the imagery and immersion just blew my mind. your mind is so amazing, and i will die for these characters. the sfx of the sword fighting was everything, i felt like i was transported into those intense fight scenes that i love so much. thank you for sharing your craft 🙇‍♀️ here's to more swords and future genre audios! looking forward to the spooky season!!

Thank you for sharing this with us! Anyone who writes/creates knows that the process isn't always pretty. I loved the "don't go with your first idea" mantra, I'll definitely be adding that to my own process. Hope your back is feeling better! Can't wait to listen to the audio and see how great the finished product turned out 💖

This was so interesting to watch. So fun to see how your brain works when writing. Very thoughtful, very mindful, very nevermind I'll stop myself 🤣 I hope we get to see you writing again as an occasional treat 😄 A friend caught me watching this and I told them it's writing for an audio and I joked that I came for the naughty but I stayed for the plot 🤣

It's so funny you mentioned Malick's The New World. I know you said you haven't seen it, but I listened to your Dirty Talk #15 for the first time a few days ago and it really put me in mind of that film. All the sounds of nature and birds chirping. You talking about the sunlight and tentative first touches. It was really such a beautiful audio. And that film is one of my faves. (Watch the 1st cut or extended cut if you do ever watch it.)

Sorry to hear about your back pain. Have you tried a kneeling office chair? It shifts the weight when sitting so it could help relieve your back especially if you have to sit for a few hours doing work. Hearing the audio and seeing the idea-to-script process was really intriguing! It’s interesting getting a peek into your thought process and what the writing and creativity look like when making an audio. Personally, there’s a greater appreciation with every layer that gets peeled back and we get to see/hear behind the scenes of what goes into making an audio. I’ll endlessly praise your pacing because you truly have an intuitive grasp and emphasis, knowing exactly when to linger on a detail or move swiftly through a point. I wonder while you’re writing and the dialogue is flowing, if that’s something you keep in mind or don’t think about until certain things happen in the audio? Or go back and edit/change where you want to build anticipation, slow down to savor moments of connection or quicken the pace during scenes of heightened desire? It’s was cool seeing the script slowly come together and hearing how you bring those words to life. I’m curious if you sometimes improvise big parts of the dialogue while you’re recording or if you stick mostly to the script while changing a line here and there? And before I forget…Holy Hand Kink Batman?! Can a hand audio be in the works? 👀

Also my liege, do consider investing in an ergonomic chair 💅 I went to a showroom with more than 50 chairs, asked for one that suited my exact height, sampled the 3 best, and now I can sit all day! Best $150 I've spent!

Second the kneeling chair! I had one in high school that carried me through long nights of gaming and it’s surprisingly great.

I’ve only ever heard good things from those who own one! It helps with back pain & I had an art teacher who used one because he’d spend hours drawing and it was more comfortable.

Oooh almost an hour and thirty minutes! We're eating good tonight! Just got around to watching this undisturbed. Can't wait to see the magical process ✨️ *Girly pops*, I was able to pass my state licensure exam yesterday. Be gone books, hello more August-Verse theories! 🤣🤣 *Gender neutral, because August's genius should be enjoyed by everyone ☺️*

As a lawyer 👀👀 I would absolutely ✨melt✨ for an audio with that theme! As a relatively new Patreon who came across your audios ~6 weeks ago, this has become such a comfort space for me, and it’s so cool to see behind the curtain and have some insight into your writing process. Your care and commitment to your audios comes through in every piece ❤️

August!! As a newer subscriber and a writer, seeing this pop up as the first Moans Exclusive after subbing was such a delight! I really appreciate the insight into your process, I'm always so curious how writers outline and brainstorm, and because you're writing audio scripts it was interesting to see what's different and what's similar to my own outline process. I will always stop what I'm doing and tune in for process breakdowns like this, so thank you so much for sharing! I also wanted to say, as far as a livestream goes... I think that could be a really fun idea! Since I'm a little newer here, I'm not sure if you've done a live before, but I think it could be interesting from the perspective of workshopping many ideas at once versus script writing on the spot. I'm not sure about you, but I think I would get a little overwhelmed trying to produce what you were able to in this video with a live audience. That being said, I'm sure you have a dozen little random audio thoughts and it could be fun to throw those out to the chat and talk through the vibe of those pieces knowing they may or may not ever result in a full script and I'm sure the Moans would really enjoy the little previews. I'll admit, as a brand new subscriber, I found myself listening to all your SFW audios first and really enjoy listening to you chat and essentially podcast, and I'm sure a lot of others feel the same. Anyways I'm rambling, but thank you for this and I look forward to whatever's next!

I just finished working on my own script assignment and now I feel like I'm having a course online when I open this sfw video hahaha. And it's my birthday today, maybe I can get a HBD?🥺🥺🥺plz

it is so incredibly endearing that you watch obscure history and swordfighting youtubers and know historically accurate swordfighting terms

i hope you make more of these! as a fellow writer, i’m always fascinated by other people’s writing processes so this was cool to see :)

Wow this is very soothing to listen to!!! Interesting to see your thought process, I haven’t listened to this audio yet so I’m excited to see how it turned out. Thank you for making this so long!!! Helping me calm down after a stressful night.

There’s a YT video called In Praise of Great Exposition and this is a great example of that. August has such a talent for nuancing the writing and performance that builds the setting and characters in a way that feels so organic. Dialogue is the hardest thing for me to write usually, it end up being so clunky. Lowkey feeling inspired to try writing again this new year!

Andrea

As someone who falls into the endless exposition trap, I’m really going to try to internalise using dialogue for “exposition with efficiency.” You’re good at trusting the audience to be smart enough to pick up those fast and/or subtle context cues too. This was so interesting to watch, I learned a lot! You understand your medium so well and I like the idea of leaning into and embracing some of the inherent corniness of genre (but understanding that’s also part of the joy!).

jay

This is a really fun look behind the scenes! I write romances, and it somehow never occurred to me that the process of writing romance audio scripts would be so similar to longform fiction
