Another great game to turn into an rpg would be the card game Love Letter. I’ve always thought the lore for that game is so evocative, and there’s a lot of room for a story in there. Plus, it’s simple enough that there’s plenty of room for fleshing out the different characters and how they interact with the PC’s

My board game that has a lot of story telling potential of choice is root because its literally a war game with different factions that all have fun implications. There is an rpg of root but you can only be a vagabond and like. No dude i dont want to be a little scamp playing all sides of a conflict and dungeon delving i want to be a titan of industry engaging in devious cat and mouse (but they are literally a cat and a mouse) yuri with a megalomaniacal rat king. Is that so much to ask

Because this is the talk back and not the series, I'll post my wild speculation here in case it's a spoiler. I think Mr.Green was in a relationship with Mr.Body. Mr.Body is faking his death and it was all his idea. Mr.Green was trying to give Body an out saying you don't have to go through with this, get married, have a normal life. Body was saying no we're doing it. He tried to make amends with the talented women he wronged the only way he knew how, stupidly. In the end they'll run off together to parts unknown once the legalities are cleared.

You all clearly didn’t play Clue the “right way.” …. Or maybe that was me and my siblings. Probably that was us. Considering Clue games became an arms race of ever-more complicated spreadsheets of who said what when. Eventually, we all got to where we’d be able to narrow in on what card was handed between two players three rounds back, based on their earlier and later instances of having to say “no clue.” So every action taken by a player was carefully noted by all, using our own systems of meticulous record keeping. And then checked against previous actions. 😆 If you have a headache imagining it. Yes. That’s the correct reaction to how we “played” that game. 😂

It's funny they brought up a chess thing because I've actually thought of a world where people are born with or without the chess symbol on their hand and based on the symbol you get a special ability that corresponds with the move. I don't remember them all but I remember the idea for the king and queen was if your born with that symbol you're automatically assigned that role, so say someone born with the king tattoo then when that king dies the next person with that tattoo (I had it so long and queen were limited) becomes the next king and when at war the kings ability was that he'd be able to see the outline of the battle field (outlines like a chess board) and could manually controll his units.

Similar to a role playing game based on chess you could play Shogi, Japanese chess. The main difference in Shogi is a player can redeploy captured enemy pieces instead being removed from play. The themes of betrayal and side swapping would be so fun!
