And here, finally, we come to the end of this comic! Be sure to read the whole thing on the main post.
So, this comic ended up being a little more angsty than I originally promised, but I hope you guys enjoyed it all the same. When I started it, my goal was to try to make this scene feel like how I imagined it would've played out in the show, and follow the same narrative tone that we know Arcane to have. Funnily enough, last month Amanda Overton herself said in an interview how she imagined a scene like this would play out, and managed to assuage any worries I had about whether or not I had missed the mark! So, in the end I'm pretty proud of this little story.
That said, this comic was also a real challenge to draw, and was probably my toughest project to date. Expressions are still something I have a hard time with, and this comic put a lot of focus on Vi and Cait's faces and the subtle differences in their expressions from one panel to the next. Hopefully I was able to convey their emotions properly.
Now, next month will be the start of the SFW portion of Dear Friend Across the River, another CaitVi comic. I promise this one won't be anywhere near as angsty... though maybe still a teeny bit angsty. It is Arcane after all 😁
