If I'm remembering correctly, there were conflicting reports on the reason behind Travis' death. There were unconfirmed rumors that he requested to leave the show so he could work on James Cameron's Avatar films, but I believe the showrunner claimed that his death was always planned. It sucks to lose him but I do kind of like the unpredictability of this show. I don't think he was bitten, either. That was a high caliber gun and I think the shot hit him in the stomach from below and exited through his neck.

ya i believe he was meant to die near the END of season 3 but left early for avatar, still killing a main character in the litteral intro title is crazy to me to this day

Yeah Travis' actor atp got a big role in the Avatar sequels so this is imo the WORST of season 3 honestly. They had to get him out last minute sadly. I think it was always planned for him to die but not this way or this early. Season 3 was very heavily rewritten afaik bc of a lot of problems but still manages to turn out as one of the best seasons in the franchise.
