They will only mention it briefly in the future, but Rhaenys wasnt just the oldest descendant of King Jaehaerys she was the only child of Jaehaerys oldest son Aemon, which is why Rhaenys is the most senior line of House Targaryen. At this time she was already past over two times. First when her father Aemon died and Jaehaerys named his second son Baelon his heir, Viserys and Daemons father. And then the second time after Baelon died and the great council of 101 choose Viserys.

poor phil, this man needs a nap! lol i’m so excited you guys started this show! yes they are called dragon handlers/dragon keepers, the red keep’s construction started during aegon the conqueror’s reign and was finished during maegor the cruel’s reign and took about 10 years in total, (and he put secret tunnels throughout the red keep which we see in GoT), viserys and aemma are cousins, the old king we saw in the beginning is jaehaerys the first and he is their grandfather, the velaryon’s are also valyrian like the targaryen’s (both families are from valyria) which is why they have white hair as well, they mentioned daenys the dreamer and she had a dream that valyria would face a catastrophic event aka the doom of valyria, balerion the black dread’s skull is who viserys and rhaenyra were talking in front of and he had 4 riders throughout his life (with viserys being the last one to ride him for like 20 minutes around king’s landing) and was the largest dragon ever.
