Corlys was already the most known sailor in westerosi history when he married Rhaenys. He sailed to places no one from westeros had ever been to and brought back immense wealth which catapulted house velaryon to the strongest house in westeros. Rhaenys was 16 when they married and Corlys 37. They played with some ages in the show. Nevertheless, Rhaenys father Aemon never had any other children and with his wife Jocelyn being in her mid 30s it wasnt very likely they would ever try again, some theories are that Aemon never pressured Jocelyn for another child, because Jocelyn's mother died in childbirth when she had her. So Rhaenys married Corlys with the realm knowing that when Aemon becomes king, Rhaenys would be his heir and by that Corlys would become King Consort. Aemon knew he would become king one day, so why would he not try to get a son, if he would think that Rhaenys shouldnt be Queen? So yeah, denying Corlys practically a piece of the cake was probably the most insane political mistake in westerosi history. When Rhaenys said to Rhaenyra your father will remarry one day either to my daughter or someone else she wasnt trying to scare Rhaenyra off, she was trying to tell her, if he marries Laena you will have an ally in us, cause we are already blood, but you cannot know if you have an ally when some other house will present the next queen with their offsprings. In this case now House Hightower will have merge with the targaryen line, which is btw the first time in the targaryen dynasty that the queen wont have valyrian blood. The marriages before were either targaryen incest, marriage to house velaryon or in Viserys case with Aemma Arryn who had a targaryen mother.

so it’s actually not the same sept of baelor that cersei blew up, they’re in the grand sept aka the sept of remembrance; the sept of baelor wasn’t built for many years after the timeline we’re in but the confusion is totally understandable!

Hollow

The blood flowing in the intro is actually showing the Targaryen family tree, branching off with every marriage and such. It will change throughout the course of the show. Not as visually interesting as GoT's with the locations though. If you don't know what all the sigils mean it won't mean much to you anyway. Of course they kept the same song though. It's far too iconic, any that replaced it would inevitably be compared unfavorably. Driftmark, the seat of the Velaryon family, is another island right next to Dragonstone, just across the Blackwater Bay from King's Landing. Also, heads up there will be several time jumps (small and large) in this season. There was one of 6 months just between eps 1 and 2. (About Viserys' decision: We all know people who ask friends for advice and then completely ignore them because they didn't tell them what they wanted to hear lol)
