you guys gotta remember Daeron is 16 and Alicents youngest kid so Ormund is too old to be him but Erika was on to something lol

I felt so bad for Ser lorent, he was given an instant lose-lose scenario. Listen to Jace, barring the door and forfeiting his life. Ignore Jace, and risk that if anything happens to Rhaenyra, Jace is next in line and will take his head.

Also something to tug on your heart strings - Just after jace is shot, the view looking up at him from under the water - You're looking up through his dragons (vermax) eyes, that last thing Vermax saw was his rider break free then die. I think Jace was played really well as a character, and that Rhaenyra holds a hefty amount of blame for his death - He's been wanting chances to prove himself, and makes very good points but is constantly brushed aside by Rhaenyra, she's drove him to this point of going behind her back because he feels that his legitimacy is fading fast, especially now the dragonseeds have been elevated and instantly given missions and things to do. At this stage I think Rhaenyras best option here was to go herself, but agree to take Jace and Baela with her, with Rhaenyra on syrax being the main attacking force, and Jace/Baela essentially there as direct support for Rhaenyra, so that way any trouble Rhaenyra/Syrax gets into shes got two, fast dragons able to fly in and aid her. Which as we saw in the battle, this would mean if syrax got hit by one of the ballistas, both moondancer and vermax would be able to immediately swoop down to cut the rope and cover a retreat. Though Raena was completely in the wrong here, despite wanting to "help", she knows that wild dragons are traditionally un-tameable and unable to be trusted, the fact she managed to bond one is already a miracle, but even a normal dragon requires time and effort to train and build that bond and trust with their rider, so that under the stress of battle it stays calm and follows orders. This is all stuff Rhaena knows as a Targaryen, this is the stuff they learn all throughout childhood, especially with such prominent dragonrider parents like daemon/laena

I think if Sheepstealer hadn’t come in and caused so much chaos, things could have ended differently, with Jace possibly surviving. So his decision wasn’t all that bad 🤔

I completely missed the Vermax POV—that makes Jace’s death even more heartbreaking. I also appreciate your perspective on Rhaenyra, Jace, and Rhaena. There are so many layers to everyone’s decisions, and that’s what makes this story so compelling. Thanks for sharing!

I’m leaning towards that as well!
